Re: Rewarpping a manufatured rod with spiral guides

I haven't gone spiral wrap yet, agree with Scooby that there is no need with the fishing we do. I have re-wrapped most of my NRX rods with SIC or Torzite though. Much smaller stripper guides and all single foot guides(stripper is double) and it makes the rods really come alive. Says the guy who has...

Re: Chronarch 150G vs Met MGL and Chronarch 150G in saltwater...

Chronarch G has been holding up great. Havent had any of the spool problems of the CI4 and the rest of the reel is very corrosion resistant so no worries there. The key to keeping the Metanium going in the salt is to clean and relube once a month with proper corrosion resistant grease. Ive been usin...

Re: Abu Garcia WTF's

No one is saying bearing supported pinion gear is useless. What's useless is giving it a name and print the logo on the box like its something new Shimano has invented. I gotcha. But without them indicating that it's something new on their reels, how would they advertise that feature exists? It see...

Re: Abu Garcia WTF's

The Abus that I have owned were good reels, until the thumb bar stopped working which is a pretty major problem, especially when wade fishing where you normally bring only 1 reel. The reels performed well and were comfortable to use, but that thumb bar issue(which was very common) was when I had to ...

Re: Lake Powell FLORIDA

I've fished those dune lakes several times, and you never know what you will catch in there. Some hold lots of bass, redfish and trout with lots of other bonus species mixed in. If the water is clear, it's hard to beat a jerkbait, and my best recommendation is an Xrap 08 in Olive Green. That little ...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

For somebody who fished CNQ 842c and CNQ 843c, how would you estimate real lure test for both rods? 843c official test 7-21 g 842c 7-18 g is it really just 3g difference in lure weight separates both? 842 is best with lures in the 1/4-1/2oz range and the 843 best with 3/8-3/4oz. Have gone above and...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Stile SS Hg- Loving these little reels. Super smooth, lightweight, aluminum frame, brass gears, carbon drag washers and the drag clicker is sweet when those redfish take off. Definitely works great as a finesse reel. Spool is slightly shallower than my Curado/Core 50s, but has plenty of power to tak...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Nice red! Yep, I have had a gator decide to eat my bait a few times, mostly on Seminole and the Stick Marsh, but in a couple of ponds down in south GA, too....and never anything that size! Unless they are 3 ft or less, I don't even attempt to retrieve my lure lol! Thanks man! Lol, They do love to e...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Fishing in the marsh in the spring is a lot of fun, and nothing better to throw through all the milfoil than a chatterbait. There's a really nice variety of bass, redfish, and trout in there...among other things. This redfish crushed that chatterbait off a solid rip out of the grass, and felt like h...

Re: Favorite Mid-Range Crankbait (8-12 feet)

Lucky Craft SKT DR. Deflects great, and has a tight action that works well any time of year. Close second would be the 1.5DD for those depths.

Re: Metanium vs Chronarch

Drag washers are also different between the 2 reels. Chronarch comes with carbon fiber washers, while the Metanium comes with the Dartanium washers. Really not an issue because they are both smooth, until those Dartaniums start to fall apart. I'd have to agree with the other posts though, if you are...

Re: Breaking open the Chronarch MGL

I'd say they compare nicely as far as smoothness. No idea how much it increases pressure though. I swapped to CarbonTex in one of my CI4s and really can't tell the difference. I wouldn't swap them out unless you are having issues like the OP was having. The Metanium comes with the old Dartanium drag...
