Re: Let's see that backlash!

This is a good reason to use braid. Never had a backlash that couldn’t be sorted out. Love some fluoro for certain things, but bushwhacking is not one of them. A buddy wrapped his PowerPole micro with braid on the backswing recently. By the time I made it over to him, he had already started cutting ...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

That was on Sanibel Island. I take my daughters there every summer to swim and collect shells. I sneak off to fish every chance I get. Yes; I’ve been able to catch snook on those same beaches. But not this year. Last year that area was hammered by that algal bloom. I don’t know if that had anything...

Drive an hour to the west to Orange beach, AL and they are everywhere in the surf. Not sure why that is, bu...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Wow; nice trout. I was able to get myself into a couple schools one morning this past week on a beach. I'm a total novice in salt water. I was able to land a few of these. Different size class, but I was about as excited as a 12 year old. :big grin: Very nice =D> Getting into some schools is a lot ...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

These big Speckled trout are completely different animals than the smaller ones. This gator and her equally large buddy followed a hooked redfish at the start of the day, so I ended up staying and fishing through the area two more times. Next time through, they followed the lure to the kayak and sw...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Solid fish. Definitely plenty of big reds out there to catch, since they aren’t harvested. We have a bridge here where it’s a pretty easy to catch 15+ bulls a night. It’s all relative to the size of tackle used though, and enjoy the lighter tackle lure fishing for them much more than the heavy tackl...

Re: Moon underfoot major

I stopped paying attention to this stuff a long time ago after comparing my success to the tables presented. I still think it’s fun to check in on them to see how wrong they were  For example, my best night of trophy trout fishing last winter was on a low activity night according to the chart, ...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Love cranking up some redfish. BDS 1 straight up gets inhaled, as long as it’s in a crab pattern. Started throwing these shallow cranks (BDS1, RC0.5, Jackall Aska 45) on Conquest 842 and it does a great job. Can instantly tell by the feel of the bite if it inhaled the bait or not. https://i.postimg....

Re: Small bearing greaser

Packing bearings with grease is a touchy subject. To much grease and the reel feels stiff and harder to turn the handle. Not enough grease and it lacks the protection needed. Finding the right grease seems to make a big difference as well. If fishing strictly freshwater, I wouldn’t worry about grea...

Re: Keitech Shad Impact

They do make really good chatterbait trailers. Makes a Jackall Break Blade very erratic. I need to try them on one of those heads though. Threw them for redfish once after catching 20+ slots out of a school on xraps and the bite was slowing down. Rigged it on a weighted ewg swimbait hook and caught ...
