Re: Aldebaran 50 MGL
Good to know about the MGL spools. Thanks JB And to be more detailed with what I was told from Shimano, the Magnumlite(MGL) spools had issues if they were in a composite frame, which is why they made the Chronarch G. Wouldn’t use the Chronarch MGL in salt, even though I haven’t really heard of any ...

Re: Aldebaran 50 MGL
MGL spool is fine in the salt, it was only the CI4+ spool that had issues. Aldebaran will work well in the salt if you stay up on the maintenance and get some good grease to put on those aluminum gears.

Great job brother, teach them young. Hobbies are very important in life, and are something I think a lot of people are missing out on these days. Keep up the good work!

Re: Bearings
Are those EBay bearings better than stock? I seen some offers for $1 per bearing, can’t really trust those. For frame bearings in my reels I buy Boca ABEC 5, spool bearings usually Hedgehog Hybrids. Can’t say I notice any difference between them and factory bearings, a quality stainless steel ABEC1...

Re: Bearings
Since no one could answer this question, which definitely surprised me as we have lots of expert reel techs on here, I’ll share the answer I found. EBay had the best prices by far. Find what you want and message the seller and see if they can give a better deal. Great bearings as well.

Re: Custom Paints
Been trying to get my creativity flowing, and bream patterns are a great way to do that. Trying to match our tannic water bluegill around here which are very bright fish. Lot of fun trying to come up with something randomly, and think they turned out looking pretty nice. Ready to take them down to S...

Re: what is the best one stop shop crankbait rod?
Cumara 7’ H/MF. Old rod, but still my favorite cranking rod. Super light for a H powered cranking rod, with enough power for most cranks. I’ve thrown BDS 1, and up to a 6XD on them, and also use one for frogging. A 7’ with 3/8-1 1/4oz ratings would be a great choice to cover close in work and also a...

Re: VMC Hook Eye Epoxy?
I just don’t like VMC hooks. Just not sharp enough for my liking. Owner and Gamakatsu for me, love their variety, and I can get VMC very cheap. Adding a little epoxy to the hook eyes takes about 1 minute to do a whole pack of hooks, so it’s worth it. Never broke braid on hooksets, but noticed fluoro...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Loving all these catches, awesome fish guys =D> Polkfish, same thing happens to me, one a year but always a fun one, and they do thump it! Great job man! First time targeting these fish in over a decade and I’m sure I wouldn’t have hooked up without the help of another angler fishing the same stretc...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
Thanks guys, love these surprises. That really was a make it or break it situation, stop and turn the fish or you lose, and definitely was lucky in that regard.

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!
These dock battles are crazy. Sitting in front of one dock and paralleling the next one with a Shallow Pointer, this fish dropped the hammer on a long pause about 5’ off the corner piling. Shook me through my shoulders  Luckily she ran out for the first few seconds, just long enough for me to g...
