Re: Coronavirus "Covid-19"

And we are off. Was waiting for the political slant to start. Please no politics on this site guys [-X Easy enough to keep it on topic. If you want to trash Trump, Fauci, Obama, whoever go get on FB and rant away. No one cares about your political affiliation on here.

One for Zander, one for myself... repaint of TripleTrout Nezuma Rats
Those look awesome, that cracked finish is sweet. Great looking baits, that pic with the bass says it all! Custom paints definitely help with the confidence no matter what bait your throwing.

Nice fish! Some sort of trout?
Thanks, it’s a Speckled Trout, also known as Spotted Seatrout. They are fast, aggressive fish, and are similar to bass with the patterns and some techniques used to catch them.

Re: Custom Paints

Ayu is definitely knocking them out. Sightfishing in crystal clear water was the main reason I started painting, have to get those colors right to get that big bite. I think Ayu will be the one this summer. Took me 3 drifts through this school of gators to get hooked up, but was worth the effort. Sa...

Re: Bait tweak

Looks good. Nice work! Did a good job covering that up. Good idea with the 5200. I used 5200 on my Flash Minnows I had to drill into and it worked great. Nothing worse than a leaky bait, and epoxy never held up. Will be all I use in the future. Glad the bait worked well for you after the changes!

Re: Do you keep back up reel

Freshwater fishing, not at all. These reels don’t need a lot of maintenance after use so really no need. Saltwater is a different story. Reels need much more frequent maintenance and, at least for me, get used a lot more than my freshwater gear. So I keep a backup around for when I have a reel broke...

Re: Custom Paints

Test out the green in some crystal clear, shallow water on a bright and sunny day. Sightfishing is a great way to test out colors since it let you see how the fish react to it, and they were crushing it! Several fish moved more than 50’ across the flat to come get it. Think it’s a winner. https://i....

Re: New Poison Adrena

Anyone own an old model Adrena and a new model Adrena in similar powers/actions and can give some idea of the differences between old and new? Own several of the old models, and don’t feel that they were anywhere close to other top end rods from other brands. Not saying they had no feel, but very tc...

Re: Custom Paints

Painted this Ayu color the other night. Simple, but I think it is gonna catch some fish. Pointer 78SR and Flash Minnow 95MR. Very natural colors with some flash depending on light angle. 5 different colors in the scales show up well in the sun, but not my pictures  . https://i.postimg.cc/7P9mYF...

Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

Thanks gentlemen. 8-) Holy teeth JB! Cut the line, or did it bite/break you off? Hang in there Polk. Odd times like these always find me reaching for Hemmingway's The Nick Adams Stories. Fought it for 20 minutes or so before I could see it. We have sturgeon, flathead/blue cats, huge stingrays...

Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

Oh yeah; it’s a staple now. I did not realize how different it is from the other variations of moving baits I throw. At times, it will ignite bites other baits just won’t. Nice little nuance. And the hookup ratio; my word. Should be banned in tx’s ha ha. I really need to start throwing those this y...

Re: Bass Fishing Bycatches

It’s a little backwards for me  Fishing for redfish and catching bass side by side. Very normal though, and I’ll take anything that wants to bite my Break Blade, which he included bass, redfish, speckled trout, flounder, pickerel and Sriper. Caught this bass 10’ away from the redfish in some sc...

Topwater redfish action is always fun. Looked like someone threw a bowling ball in the water when he blew it up

Re: What rod handle material do you prefer?

I prefer comfort over looks or anything else, so I love some Winn grips or EVA. Cork deteriorates to quickly for me and starts looking terrible in no time. Would like to try Carbon on my next build, but doesn’t look comfortable at all. Be nice to at least hold a rod with this grip material before bu...

Re: Rod Length in Kayak vs canoe

Rod length doesn’t matter to much, but handle length can, especially if sitting down. If you stand up to fish neither makes any difference. I do like rods to be at least 7’ to make it easier to bring fish around the bow of the kayak.
