Re: Roller clutch issues?

Who knew anti reverse bearings were such a touchy subject. Think this happened the last time it came up. I know it’s hard to read through the personal attacks and what not, but hope you guys use the info he put out related to the topic since it isn’t wrong. Only other thing I’ll say on this to...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

This Corrosion X that I hear about often on here, to me seems like a penetrant/liquid grease to me. I used to use something similar to that on my BMX bike chains, and it was like a waxy/silicone type spray stuff. I wonder what is the makeup of it. Another thought: anyone try mixing a bit of grease ...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

Man, everyone attacking the messenger while ignoring the message. I’m not here for the arguments or to start any at all, just trying to get some good ideas out there when questions like comes up, and hate to see the right info get lost in the arguments. Can not compare the grease vs. oil argument wi...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

No issues with failure, just ARBs getting dirty. A couple cycles through the Ultrasonic cleans them up quickly so that’s not a problem. I have never heard any reel tech ever recommend grease of any kind though. Haven’t tried everything out there, so there may be something that works and that’s great...

Re: '19 Scorpion MGL 150

So has anyone been out on the water with this reel yet and have any thoughts on performance? Mine arrives tonight, so looks like I’ll have all weekend to use it. Probably just rig this and a Curado K with frogs, maybe do a little deep cranking, and see how they compare.

Bet that was quite a fight. =D>
Yes sir, they pull hard. No blazing runs like redfish, but you definitely aren’t stopping it easily!

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

I don’t target black drum, but when they keep swimming right by you in the shallows you have to drop a jig in their face eventually. Caught on a NRX 843c/Curado 51e, 3/8oz Cadman ballhead jig.

Re: What Knot?

Seen so many FG knots fail that were tied by very competent fishermen, that it leaves me shaking my head [-( No doubt it’s the strongest knot out there when tied correctly, but even then, I have seen so many failures after using it for a period of time. Use what works for you, and don’t change just ...

Re: Budget salt water casting reel

SLX. Shimano’s are real easy to maintain, which is very important for a saltwater reel. Have no experience with that reel, but hear they are good casters that feel solid.

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

30lb braid is about as high as I would go with these reels based on capacity. I can dump the whole spool of 30 with some 5/8oz lures. Might want something a little bigger with more capacity for heavy braid. They are small, light, powerful and a lot of fun to use though. I was in the same boat, unsur...

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

I work for a Shimano repair facility and we can't even get parts for JDM reels. Schematics are in Japanese. I wish it were different... I'll ask Shimano about it at ICAST in July. Most every part for the frame(gears, driveshaft, idle gears, clutch) swaps from the Curado 70. I’ve got brass gears fro...

That’s one thick fish! Nice work. Spinnerbaits still get the job done!

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

Looks to be very similar to the Stile SS, which comes with the old SVS system with finesse brakes. No outside dial. These brakes are light enough to allow very free casting with one brake on, and can cast as well as the newer SVS system with dial. Here’s a listing for a spare spool where you can see...
