Re: 4 Techs, 3 Countries of Origin, 2 Price Points, One Goal - TT's 2018 Low Profile Baitcaster Shootout (part 1)

I want to see you guys set the drags to those stated numbers and try to crank through that pressure. Bet those reels don’t last long. Those numbers are pure marketing. Never needed more than 10lbs of pressure, and we all know those drag numbers are ridiculous in a low profile baitcaster.

Re: what swim bait head are you using?

Owners come with 3/0 hook. The reason I didn't mention them they have a weak flexible hook. The Trokar hook is much stronger doesn't flex and is sharper. Also prefer the Trokar shorter shank that allows a bit more body wiggle movement. Weak hook on an inshore jighead? That hasn’t been my experience...

Re: Break offs

Never had an issue with Shooter, but have had mystery breakoffs on every fluoro line Seaguar makes. Shooter is all I buy anymore and also works great for leaders since it’s the toughest line available. Just have to get used to it’s stiffness if you are spooling it on a reel. I only spool up 50yds at...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Doing some cranking on the river the other day, and stuck this monster. I was cranking a RC 2.5DD through a creek mouth that meets the river when it got crushed! Always love these giant surprises! Caught on a 7’H Cumara and Stile SS PG. https://i.postimg.cc/Rqr06CY0/CA90_D6_D6-22_D4-4238-8_EF3-25_C...

Jackall Gavacho!! Walks better than any I’ve thrown, almost does a complete 180 turn on each twitch/walk. Walks and spits so good =D>

Re: Fall fishing

Hydrilla is usually just starting to die back during this time of year, so frogs are thrown a lot. Hard jerkbaits and spinnerbaits on edges of flats also work well. Fall is a fun time to fish as the Shad are in a major migration, and pretty much everything in your box will work in the right scenario.

Re: Curado 70 Gears

Thanks for all the info. Damn I have to think very hard, I don't need any more finesse reel since all my 70, alde MG7, scorpion 1000xt and Daiwa Alphas 105 can handle these job easily but I really like the 70 platform. I just hope for deeper spool for 70 body. BTW, why you swap out aluminum gear on...

Re: Hooks-Sealed line tie

I also use a drop of epoxy or gel style super glue to seal up that gap. Works great on my Owner hooks.

Re: Curado 70 Gears

Got my scale out the other day as I was doing a full service and modifications to another one of my Stiles. Here’s a few weights and comparisons of spools. Compared it to a Curado 51e and Aldebaran 51mg spool. Stile spool comes with a bearing on the spool shaft, so I weighed it with and without bear...

Re: Aldebaran 50 HG handle question.

If you are looking for a relatively cheap handle, the factory Metanium XG and Chronarch XG handles are 96mm and much cheaper than aftermarket. Metanium handle is silver and Chronarch is black. Can order complete handle w/knobs or just the handle.

Trophy trout just keep biting. They have been destroying the Flash Minnow 95MR lately.

Re: Curado 70 Gears

I still need to weigh the spool one of these days. Seems very light in hand. It’s listed as a saltwater finesse reel and has the finesse VBS brake system, but not sure how low it will go. I bought the first for easy bomb casting 1/2-5/8oz topwaters and twitch baits and with 1 brake on will completel...
