Re: Budget salt water casting reel

SLX. Shimano’s are real easy to maintain, which is very important for a saltwater reel. Have no experience with that reel, but hear they are good casters that feel solid.

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

30lb braid is about as high as I would go with these reels based on capacity. I can dump the whole spool of 30 with some 5/8oz lures. Might want something a little bigger with more capacity for heavy braid. They are small, light, powerful and a lot of fun to use though. I was in the same boat, unsur...

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

I work for a Shimano repair facility and we can't even get parts for JDM reels. Schematics are in Japanese. I wish it were different... I'll ask Shimano about it at ICAST in July. Most every part for the frame(gears, driveshaft, idle gears, clutch) swaps from the Curado 70. I’ve got brass gears fro...

That’s one thick fish! Nice work. Spinnerbaits still get the job done!

Re: Shimano 18 Bay Game 151

Looks to be very similar to the Stile SS, which comes with the old SVS system with finesse brakes. No outside dial. These brakes are light enough to allow very free casting with one brake on, and can cast as well as the newer SVS system with dial. Here’s a listing for a spare spool where you can see...

The water is so clear right now, sightfishing has been amazing! Big redfish cruising all day. https://i.postimg.cc/j5WJyr1X/930-F927-E-882-D-4-FBD-8-EBA-2-CB850-E29-B88.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/zGjWr7Wn/084-A2-B63-CB62-4-DDC-9248-33758-DA0-AE35.jpg Decided to try out a Conquest842 for 3/8oz chatterb...

Re: NRX 895

I use one for punching and it’s done a good job. Had to change the way I hold the rod, but works for me. I lock the rod butt under my forearm so the rod can’t tilt up and down and lift my whole arm with the rod instead of just the wrist. Don’t feel the tip heaviness when I fish this way. Working wit...

Re: Strike King Thunder Cricket

My biggest question is why aren’t any of these US companies using weedguards on their chatterbait’s? The Break Blade uses a dual titanium weedguard, and they come through grass and wood better than anything I’ve used. Really amazing what they can fish through. For $10-$16, you would think they would...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

I realize no one has used these over time yet, but how strong is the paint? Anyone had it open to see if it’s painted inside and out? Definitely interested in using this reel inshore after seeing it listed as saltwater capable on a few sites, but the paint has to be tough for the frame to hold up ov...

Re: shimano cumara reation

Love the 7’ H/MF for frogging as well! That action is perfect for keeping big frog fish pinned. That rod was super versatile and could fish so many things well including big topwater, jigs, chatterbaits/spinnerbaits and of course Crankbaits. A BDS 3 felt perfect on this rod but threw as small as the...

Re: Modified full handle on NRX

I would advise you to be very careful using the Grip Savers over cork handles. They are fine if you remove and replace them constantly, allowing the cork to dry out. If you leave them on for a longer period of time, water gets under it and will rot out your cork. If you could figure out a way to sea...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Really got to test out the 843c Conquest yesterday with some heavy cover redfish action. These 10lb+ fish were hanging around these razor sharp reef modules and submerged rock piles, and would definitely try to take you right back into them. This one ate in the opening on the left side of pic, and d...

Finally got a confirmation email, hopefully I’ll have these by mid week. Gotta say, some of these colors make me  Definitely puts a different spin on orange! https://i.postimg.cc/FzLbkgqw/22454868-7-EB9-491-A-9868-ACDCE8-EA1-FFB.png I honestly have a feeling this pattern would slay the pike. 8...
