Re: Diawa Pixy/PX68 Alternative
I use the PX68 Liberto to throw lighter baits. I love the reel. Anyhow, I have been well stocked on rods and reels for the past few years and have not kept up with new designs or reels. I've been thinking about getting another rod and reel as a backup but Diawa not longer offers a pixy that I can f...

Re: G-Rod Pro Bass Experience?
I know TT did the review, but I wanted to know what the end users think of the graphene technology? Is it worth the hype or just another dud? How does the sensitivity compare to some of the heavy hitters? I have some money and may buy a new rod. I have been looking at G-rods for a bit, but I may sa...

Re: Chatterbait rod
I LIKE IT! That's the rod I use for chatterbaits, 'cept for adding a zillion tws with fluoro. Love that setup for chatterbaits!Boonethelunkerlander wrote:GLX 844MBR, 200 Curado and 14lb Sniper...Wickedly awesome yet pointless Chatterbait rod HAHA!

Re: Chatterbait rod
My chatterbait setup is a GLX 844MBR paired with a zillion TWS with 15lb fluoro. This rod absolutely excels at this application for me. I haven't really run into anyone else that uses an 844 for chatterbaits...so perhaps it is not a popular setup? But for me, this combo has been phenomenal.

Re: Deep Cranking Reel
TW has the ss sv on clearance still. 5.3:1 ratio and super light. Won't 10XD type baits destroy those gears? I assumed a beefier gear set was required. I haven't really found a tank of a reel, with high line capacity, smooth retrieve, and not overly heavy. I'm going to have to use my winch for now....

Re: Deep Cranking Reel
Wish I had bought a Zillion TWS in the 5.5 ratio. They started selling out for really cheap when the Zillion SV TW came around, and they aren't bad reels. Little heavy and big, but the larger, wider, deeper spool works great for throwing larger lures. Once again, they aren't half bad either when it...

Deep Cranking Reel
Looking for suggestions for a quality reel to throw 10XD, 8XD, Norman DD22, etc. I have a 6.3:1 met but don't think that's the right choice. Planning to use 15lb fluoro.

Aldebaran 51HG - Applications
Hey all, just received my Alde 51HG. Curious to find out what your favorite applications are for this reel. I was thinking of throwing light shakey heads and wacky worms on 8 to 10lb fluoro. Where have you seen this reel excel?

Re: Shakey head preferences
Sounds like everyone prefers screw locks...anybody know if they sell the screw locks on their own. Can we simply attach one to our regular hook, say 4/0 ewg. If so, any brand preferences or links?

Mine is pretty basic: Megabass Monoblock Megabass Lin10 Daiwa Steez Daiwa TD-Z Shimano Antares HG Of those 5 models I currently have 40 reels. 41! Wait, what? You have 41 variations of those 5 platforms? 42, I guess... Hadn't thought of it this way but I could fish a different monoblock every day f...

Re: Daiwa PXL-R Tear Down
I recommend you do your breakdown on a clean micro fiber towel, so anything you drop won't bounce. And take cellphone pictures at each step of disassembly, so you'll know what went where, and how the parts were oriented, particularly the springs and washers. Yup, plan to take pics and possibly vide...

Re: Daiwa PXL-R Tear Down
Okay, so it is basically the same internals as the pixy platform it came from. I never owned a pixy and for some reason I thought the PXLR only shared the frame. This vid is helpful...thanks for sharing it.

Daiwa PXL-R Tear Down
Hi all, With the cold weather finally here I plan on doing some reel maintenance to pass the time. Does anyone know of a online source that shows how to breakdown a PXL-R (video)? By breakdown I mean all the way to the frame. I tried searching on youtube and google but didn't have any luck. My suspi...
