Re: What is your bass fishing identity?
I'm 53 years old single guy, and my only vice is fishing. I have the tackle for almost everything, but I prefer to fish frogs/toads on top. I'm up before the sun rises and fishing as it goes down. Rarely fish between noon and 5 PM unless I am fishing a tournament.

Re: Who's Using a DIY Sprinker?
So I bought a package of the real Teckel Tails on eBay for $13 (4 Tails in a pack) and also from the guy who's making his own tails and selling them on eBay. The real Teckel Tails make the best plopping sound, but the first hit I had stole the tail, Doh! Those guys tails are't quite as loud as...

Who's Using a DIY Sprinker?
In case you aren't aware, there are multiple video's on You Tube about how to make your own Sprinker style frog. I have made a couple using Spro bodies and a split ring on the hook holding the swivel and the tail. I've found that the tail off a Storm Wildeye Swim Shad works the best of the tails I h...

My favorite topwater is a hollow body frog, can't pick a favorite. Something about getting giants in the jungle that just gets me going.

Re: Rod for topwater poppers/jerkbaits?
I also use the Avid 6'8" for jerking walleyes. smallies, and lgmth and for topwater. I like it so much I have two of them. One of the rods is strung with Sunline Def. Armillo and strictly for topwater. I love, love, love the rod. Another rod I like for both is an IMX 783 MBR.

I use Berkley Craw Fatty's on them sometimes and caught some really nice fish.

I like to throw 1/4 or 3/16, I forget which size, Strike King Double Willow for smallmouth. I've caught some nice one's on Mille Lacs and the Rum River.

TD-Z Spool Tension Issue
Sometimes when I'm reeling in a fish with one of my TD-Z's it becomes tough to reel in. After I have landed the fish to be able to cast again I have loosen the spool tension knob almost all the way then make a short cast, which I quickly reel back up. Then I readjust the STN to the proper setting an...

Bass Pro Speed Shad's
They were on sale and I had a $25 gift certificate, so bought some in the 3.8" and 4.8" size. I've never used Keitechs before. How do these compare?

Re: St. Croix joins the long rod bandwagon
I read there is going to be at least one rod for punching/flipping. Don't remember the length.

Re: Popper Patterns
Last Fall, mid Oct to mid Nov, I got on a consistent bite on a River2Sea Bubble Walker on a weed flat that was holding fish from 53 down to 48 degree water temps. The colder water the bite became the last hour of sunlight until it got dark as long as there wasn't very much wind. I'm guessing the bit...

The funnest for me is throwing hollow bodies in the rice, reeds, pads with a Tatula 7'4"H and Tatula 7:1 reel.

Re: SS SV Question
Thanks for the reply's. I'll try putting some FC on it and see if that makes a difference. As for Fireline, I don't think that was the problem. I love the stuff and have fished it on baitcasters since they introduced it back in the 90's. I rarely backlash with it, except when a cast comes to an abru...

SS SV Question
I got a really good deal on a Daiwa SS SV 103H reel with some boat rash on eBay. I’ve never used an SV reel before, but have read and watched video's of such good things about the SV spool. It came today, so I spooled it up with 125yrds of 14lb Fireline and went to test it out at a spot that has som...
