2020 Twin Power Spool

Doesn't seem to be much interest about Twin Powers in the "Reels" forum so I'll ask my question here. Will the new 2020 Twin Power 3000 spool drop into the 2020 Twin Power 2500 without any modifications? Also, is there really any real-time reduction in line twist when going to the larger s...

Re: Bantam1 Question about QC under Corona Virus

Thanks for the information. I'll not cancel the backordered 2020 Metanium and hope for the best.

A word to everyone; be safe, and remember those who are working and caring for the affected during these trying times.

Bantam1 Question about QC under Corona Virus

Hi Bantam1; Recently received a new 2020 Twin Power 2500 and it is really smooth, noticeably more than my sustain. That's the good news. I also ordered a 2020 Metanium 151B (yea, I'm switching to a lefty :) ) and because of the Corona Virus it has been backordered and the ETA has changed from May 05...

Re: Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium M

Agreed, there is a very noticeable difference between the two. Yesterday it hit 100-degrees again, so no water time with the MGL yet. But... I couldn't stand it any longer and put the MGL on an NRX 852C and went under some shade trees in the back yard :). Using 1/8 and 1/4 oz. washers and with 4 bra...

Re: Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium M

Thank you to Bantam, Phatbass and everyone for all the information and comments. What I have learned through this thread is the 13' Metanium has a tapered line guide made of SiC and the new Metanium MGL has been upgraded to Titanium. Also, the MGL models still have handles that are interchangeable w...

Re: Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium M

Hey Batam and Phatbass; Received the Metanium MGL150 today. Yes, there is a different appearence between the Line Guides on the MGL and 13' Metanium. On the 13' MET it looks like a dark titanium color and on the MGL it looks like smooth brass! :? Is there a version of titanium with a brass color fin...

Re: Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium M

Thanks Bantam,

That's some good information. In another thread someone said the MGL tapered line guide is now made of titanium, was the 13' Metanium different?

Re: Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium M

Thanks, that's good to hear.

MGL arrives Thursday, first thing to do is put the 96mm handle on, then spool it with line, and then... wait for the temperature to get below the 90s before hitting the water. Might be a long wait. :(

Will Metanium 13' XG Handle Shank fit the New Metanium MGL?

Hi Bantam, (or anyone who knows the answer)

I have a Metanium MGL 150 on the way. Will my extra Metanium 13' XG 96mm Handle Shank fit the new MGL? Hopefully it will because Shimano's website doesn't have any parts for the Metanium MGL models yet. :(

Thanks

Re: Sustain FG: Paladin OR Hagane Gear?

Thanks for the additional information. The new Stradic FK does look like a nice overall upgrade. Interesting that when I looked at the Shimano website again yesterday the Stradic FK reference to "Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement" has been removed and only the "Hagane gear" ref...

Re: Sustain FG: Paladin OR Hagane Gear?

OK, so the way I interpret this is the new highly touted "Hagane Gear" feature (cold forged Aluminum gear) is already used in both my Sustain FG and Stradic FJ series reels and would not be a primary reason to upgrade the Stradic FJ to the newer FK model.

Sustain FG: Paladin OR Hagane Gear?

Bantam1 , My Sustain FG uses what has always been described as a "Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement", but when I now look at Shimano's website it says in the overview section it has the "Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement" but in the technologies section it claims it has the ...

Re: Jackall Adrena PA1610M

I first bought the PA166M but later traded it for the PA1610M and the first thing I noticed was the stiffness you describe, especially for a medium power rod. The PA166M felt like a true medium power but the PA1610M felt like a lower rated MH. However, after my first trip on the water with the PA161...

Re: 2015 Shimano Aldebaran

...I’ve found that I can get best casting performance by having only one internal brake engaged. Will this cause the spool to be unbalanced enough to cause any adverse effects? Thanks for asking this question, I've always been told it does, but it would be great if Bantam1 could give us a definitiv...
