Re: Dobyns vs Megabass vs Shimano

That's a tough one for me as I have been using Dobyns for quite a long time. I have the Champion 734 (non XP) and it is a very versatile stick that I use mainly for soft swimbaits like Keitechs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. but I do not believe it is anywhere near as sensitive as the XX or the Exprid...

Re: Metanium worth the extra cost?

Matt, When I first got my Met 13, I didn't feel like it was worth the extra money over the Chronarch CI4+. After fishing them both for quite some time now, I now see that the rigidity of the frame does make a difference. If you are looking for performance, I do not think one outshines the other but ...

Re: Bantam MGL reviews?

I'm actually surprised to see all of the negative comments regarding this reel. I have used it a few times now and can say I absolutely love it. I use it for spooks and jerkbaits mostly and can honestly say it is just as smooth as my CQ's for quite a bit less money. The fact the non handle side plat...

Re: Which reel for my Helium 3, 7' heavy?

I doubt you will be disappointed with the Bantam. I don't even consider Lew's or any brand really that is not Shimano or Daiwa. I am currently running all shimano though. So, The Bantam or the Curado K would be my options. The Curado is obviously cheaper but weighs in the same as the bantam and seem...

Re: Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

I'll be honest here. When I first started seeing pictures of this reel, I thought it was going to be huge and was probably one of the uglier reels I had seen in a while. Then, I got to see one in person. This thing is tiny compared to what I thought it was going to be and is smaller than 90% of my o...

Re: T-wing and line holding

Short of what Boatbuggy stated, your options limited I would think.

change the way you hold the reel or buy a non T-wing reel for these applications.

Re: Micro Module Gear Core MG8 SVS infinity

At this point, I think your best option would be to find a 12 Exsence DC and I am sure you could swap some MM gears/pinion from something else by now. You may be a test subject though.

You would also be missing the SVS system but the DC+ system on that reel is probably better if you like DC.

Re: pros/cons, steez sv tws, us or jdm model?

It doesn't make sense. The north american/USDM market is where they sell the most reels, why would they sell us reels with looser tolerances?I don't think they'd ship out reels to north America that are "lesser",knowing all the warranty/returns problems it would cause.Whereas jdm reels stay...

Re: A rod like my Cumara..

I never used a red Cumura but the Zodias replaced it. Have you tried one of those? I had the 172M model and used it for light texas rigs. It was a good rod for its price point but I only used it for about half a season. Ended up selling it to get something with more sensitivity and bought an NRX off...

Re: Spinning reels

I've only ever bought Shimano spinning reels and have had very little experience with Daiwa reels at all. The Procyon you bought has the Air Bail on it which is essentially a hollow tube instead of the standard style bail piece you find on Shimano. That is why it looks a little thicker. It is suppos...

Re: Rod decisions....the struggle is real!

Closest thing I have to compare is the DX 743 HP. I typically use this rod for chatterbaits but it is excellent for lighter texas rigs, Senkos, smaller jigs and I would assume spinnerbaits since it does very well with the chatterbait. For jigs, the 743 can be used comfortably for me up to 3/8 plus t...

Re: Rod decisions....the struggle is real!

Which Dobyns model are you looking at in the HP lineup? I don't think I have ever seen or held a zillion rod but have done so on the Fantasista and own an HP as well as quite a few other Dobyns. Based on looks alone, I would lean towards the Dobyns between the two. I prefer cork over EVA and althoug...
