Re: 1016 BFS Reel

A used TDZ is also an excellent choice if you don't like the T3.

Re: New Tatula100

Tackle Warehouse has a new 60th Anniversary Tatula 100. Just has some special anodizing on the frame that looks kinda like Zaion and a Red Spider logo on the palm plate. Would have been nice to give it a proper handle nut and retainer in the process. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_60th_Annive...

Re: New Tatula100

I just got a new Tatula 100 (why could they not have called it a 90 to ease confusion) last week from Tackle Trap so I could get the Huk shirt promotion. I haven't fished it yet, but I'm pretty impressed. It really is smaller than the CT and palms quite nicely. The Zero Adjuster actually looks reall...

Re: Balancing pre-existing rods

I like the rubber chair tips you can get at Walmart or most hardware stores. They are cheap, come in multiple sizes and colors, and aren't permanent. Stick a couple coins in them until you find the right balance. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Waxman-Consumer-Group-4440455-3-4-Black-Rubber-Chair-Tips-4-...

Re: Steez A vs zillion type R

There is also a DIY/Ray's spool for the OG Zillions which isn't bad. The Red PE spool is the best one I have tried. The 100M spool didn't do much for me, but it could have been a gunky bearing.

I would suggest the same thing.

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf0ucSEEtog there we go... not sure how I feel about a 30mm spool Looks like a nice reel, but probably way out of my price range. Appears pretty wide for an ultra compact reel. Is the spool noisy? The mag dial looks recessed and only accessible from the bottom of the...

Re: New knife

DaveJ lives very close to an excellent knife shop. I usually stop in to Grand Prairie Knives whenever I am in that area. Buying knives can be as bad as buying fishing equipment. Like fishing equipment the only thing that matters is if you like it. Yep, GP Knives is great. I have a Spyderco Sage Lin...

Re: New knife

Glad you found a knife that works for you. Knives, like reels, are so subjective and the choices are so numerous that it can be hard find one you love and hard to stop buying different models once you get in to the hobby. One point of note. VG-10 is an excellent steel for kitchen knives, but it is p...

Re: TD Z 7.1:1 RH gears

Update: My gear set appears to be good after all. Before I shipped it back I wanted to be certain it wasn't user error. I took the gears out of the reel and pot the originals in and they had the exact same problem. Turns out I made a mistake when reassembling the reel from complete teardown. I swapp...

Re: TD Z 7.1:1 RH gears

Sorry I haven't been providing feedback. I'm afraid my set doesn't seem to be meshing well similar to LgMouthGambler's. They feel very tight and bind. I hadn't said anything yet as I was hoping I had just done something wrong in reassembly. I need to swap back in my original gear set and verify it i...
