Re: What's the best all around baitcaster??

~$250 range: Daiwa Zillion SV TW. Doesn't really need any upgrades and the stock spool is great. There are also countless compatible spools for future tweaking. Actual best lightweight do everything: Daiwa Steez SV TW or Shimano Metanium 20 MGL Best bulletproof do everything: Daiwa Steez A TW or Shi...

Re: Fishing Misconceptions That You Wish Would Die

How about the Senko is the best bait ever. "You don't work them, they work for you". You still have to cast them accurately, but they are pretty consistently effective in just about all conditions. Like others have said, braid is super sensitive unless there is a lot of wind or waves with sm...

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K

It appears the reel is actually dark green, instead of charcoal like it appeared in the 45 degree angle picture.

Re: Ray's long cast spool for tatula ct.

These spools are both rated up to 18g, are they too wild to control throwing bigger baits or are they both not robust enough to cope with contantly dragging bigger baits in? Also, is there much more of a advantage to the non drilled spool over the drilled offering other than salwater protection? I ...

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster

According to ReelTest on YT the Antares has the small side ports and the Met doesn't which is the reason for the weight difference. The brakes on the Met spool are a bit further away from the edge of the spool also. The Met actually casts slightly better even with the heavier spool. Could just be no...

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster

I think the Anteres spool is nearly identical except it has the additional side porting and different axle dimensions right? Probably not a big difference, but every little bit helps right, at least at the lower end. If you’re comparing the Antares to the JDM Metanium yes they’re almost identical, ...

Re: A Masterpiece - Shimano's Metanium MGL 150B Baitcaster

Imagine how amazing it would be with the ported spool and the line guide as far forward as it could have been. DaveJ If it's got a thiner spool and it has a shaped line guide which it has - shouldn't be too much of an issue for the line to peel off / swing side to side easily enough. The guide coul...

By all accounts I've seen, this reel is pretty awesome. Imagine how amazing it would be with the ported spool and the line guide as far forward as it could have been.

Not sure if anybody else saw this, but it looks like a product unveil is coming. Personally hoping for something Japanese made, perhaps a smaller Z?!?!?

A true Z1016 would be the first good thing to happen in 2020. Fingers crossed.

Re: OG zillion Spools and behavior

The IP 79 has the same spool as the J Dream, It is going to cast lighter weights than the standard zillion spool. https://www.fishonmag.com/daiwa-zillion-j-dream/ I’m trying to cast a weightless fluke 20# test on my power versatile rod and I can with ease. I was just seeing how far it would go down...

Re: Magforce-Z induction activation revolutions?

I imagine that Daiwa has very specific RPM graphs that show the inductor extension as speed increases. I would love to have access to those. I wonder how much the slope changes between Mag V, Z, and SV? I expect the spring strength would both change when the extension started and how big the range i...

Re: Round Reel Refinement - The JDM Daiwa Millionaire CT SV70

Every once in a while I go to TW website, open up the Shimano casting reels, and just drool over the 50. At 7.5 oz, I could easily fish it all day. It looks like a finely engineered machine. My birthday's coming up in August (hint, hint). I didn't think Shimano made a 50 Conquest any more, just the...

I wonder how they compare with these spools: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000034137937.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000104052608.html Similar style spools that are light with fixed inductors. The top one is adjustable to three different inductor heights, kinda like MagForce 3D except h...
