Re: Kastking braid

If it's stopping the spool dead on the cast, you need a larger diameter braid. Most folks won't go less than 30, to prevent it from digging. No its not catching in the spool from being dug in like you might get after snagging on wood or something, its catching during that small amount of backlash t...

Kastking braid

I have seen a few people on here comment about it being a great value on here, of those who have tried it, what are your thoughts? I'm particularily interested in two applications: 1) looking to find a more cost effection option over smackdown for spinning rods, right now i run 20lb smack down was w...

Loomis Noob, looking for GLX help

I have an avenue where i can get a GLX at a discount, so the discussion is around that model. For the last 15 years, i have used a 7'MH st. croix avid for my pitching rod. It does 85% t rigs or jigs between 5/16 and 3/8, remaining 15% i will get to a 1/2 oz if i'm fishing deeper weeds or a lot of cu...

Re: New Chatterbait

Here are the mold modifications i made to my arkie mold. Opened up the hook eye location to accommodate the larger diameter of the connector link. Also cut a small groove next the hook location to fit the wire keeper. Thanks for the pictures. What did you use to bore out the mold? Is the steel fair...

Re: New Chatterbait

yeah, notice the hook is bent, thats from snagging that stump, i would say it holds together well. I need to come up with a better way of painting the blades, i have just been using a sharpie.

Re: New Chatterbait

I will get a few pictures and try to upload them. I had troubles before, i reduced the file size below the limit and TT website still wouldn't upload them. Also, those decoy snaps look nice, but wow are they spendy. Any other ones that are a little more economical but still good? Not a huge deal, bu...

Re: New Chatterbait

Update: I painted and tied a skirt on a few, attached the blade and hit the water. My first test was just off the dock at my local launch, the bait ran great, had a good stead thump and didn't rise up bad. I ripped it our some grass and it all went well, then I snagged it on a stump. Being that i wa...

Re: New Chatterbait

I poured some last night with the 9/16 size, they seem pretty good, the wire still looks a little smaller than the ones on the boss jigs i have but much better than the ones i poured with the barlows connector links. The 13/16" ones are far too long, i might try modify them since they are heavier wi...

Re: New Chatterbait

I use size three and it sits flush. Size 4 is a longer link which will not sit flush. The jann's website doesn't list them as sizes 3 and 4, it shows me 3 sizes, 3/8, 9/16, 13/16 with 0.037, 0.050, and 0.057 wire diameter respectively, i ordered the largest two. Are these sizes 3 and 4? I should ge...
