Re: Your Favorite Discontinued Bait
Sebile Koolie LL. Could hit 25' + on a retrieve with a lot less resistance than the SK 10XD.

Re: Best fishing line for the specific techniques
For jigging 'eyes in June I use a 12lbs braid with 14" 8 lbs fluoro leader attached with small swivel to help avoid line twist. Walleye in June are pretty aggressive and will hit on almost any line presentation. My son ties braid direct to jig and except for some line twist, his catch rate has never...

Re: favorite florocarbon leader
Lines that are made to be spooled onto reels cannot be as stiff, therefore as hard, as true fluorocarbon leaders. Lines that are intended to be strung straight as leaders, never on a reel. This is 'true' fluorocarbon. It's dense, stiff and hard. You'd be shocked at the abuse it can take. Take it fr...

Re: mono?
+1 on the Elite. Used it on my fly-in fishing trips and with 10lbs test I was able to land 32 lbs Northerns and 33 lbs Lakers.
Reliable line and sometimes the stretch is a good thing.

Re: Mono stretch
I'll think this one over today. There should be a reliable, repeatable way to measure stretch at home. I'd love it if all lines had on the back of the box the honest to goodness spec's i.e. actual breaking strength, tensile strength (breaking strength in lbs per sq inch), percent stretch, a measure...

Re: Show your 2 piece rod
I have 14 rods and they are all 2 piece in various weights, lengths and actions. Do a lot of fly-in fishing trips and other travel with rods in tow so the convenience is obvious. Too bad there's not more variety out there cause a well built 2 piece is indistinguishable from a 1 piece. Bet if the majo...

Re: Carbon fiber handle from Mikes
I sent Mikes a bunch of reels three years ago that I purchased on Ebay. Mostly vintage ABU rounds from the 'early - mid '70's. Had them thoroughly cleaned, bushings replaced with bearings and drags to carbontex. He had the work completed in 2 days and I had all 5 reels back within 2 weeks. I asked f...

Re: Fluorocarbon: does it get brittle in cold water?
My son uses fluoro to ice fish in temps as cold as -30. I know some brands are better suited and made specifically for ice fishing so I wouldnt dismiss fluoro categorically.

I used the 15lbs Depth Hunter for trolling deep cranks last summer and it was fine. Couldnt tell any diff between it and regular PP.
Has thin black indicators every five feet too.
