Re: St Croix. . . . Naked

Thanks for the info. As mentioned I´m very happy with the result of the SC3. But I´m about to work an an SC5 that needs to be sanded down, too. So should I seal the surface after sanding? Or is it just the irregular apperance of the fibers that irritates?

Great reel. But I was asking for the best UL reel, or one that would at least be an upgrade to the Alphas Air.

Re: Daiwa Millionaire (CV-Z 103) drag question

The dragstar on my Millionaire "wobbles" too when it´s all backed up/loosened. It´s been like that from day one, didn´t get worse and is no problem.

Thanks for the link. So it´s a MB copy with a MB price ;) But even the normal Ali spools are almost twice the price there :(

Re: St Croix. . . . Naked

I stripped a spinning 3C69MLXF and converted it to a casting. I had to sand down the whole blank and the result was good. I didn´t seal it or anything. It looks like any unpainted raw blank.

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

The alphas air is a sweet BFS reel, people brag how this BFS reel casts a few yards more than this or that reel.Remember you'll be fishing streams and creeks most of the time for trout so max casting distance with light lures isn't a priority in this situation. You are absolutely right! I love my Al...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

I have a pixy SPR and I throw 1/16 ounce lures easily. I don't see why you'd want to go any lower for trout and panfish with a baitcaster. 1/16 ounce should be about 1,75grs. That´s about as low as I go and intend to go. I just want to cast easiely and stressfree. That works out fine with the Alpha...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

Do the Air Spools of T3 Air, SS Air and Alphas Air fit each other? (Spool diameter of all Air Spools is 32 mm) I was curious because all the Air Spools are smaller than their stock versions. I have the Alphas Air and wanted to try the Megabass Zonda BFS Spool but couldn't fit it. In other words: Is...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

I'd say the AIR reels are all pretty close. The T3 being the winner. I like the AIR reels better for skipping. The Aldebaran is slightly better than the T3 overall. The KTF spool makes a great improvement for the light stuff. The Aldebaran palms better than any of the others. The Alphas AIR is the ...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

As someone who owned all of the Daiwa AIR reels, the T3 AIR is overpriced. It's a super nice and refined reel with a blazing fast retrieve. The casting performance increase was so insignificant if at all over the SS AIR. The 16 Aldebaran BFS XG is the bee's knees with the KTF spool. I have the gen1...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

What do you mean by a "clompelte tuned reel"? KTF, ZPI, SLPW and some others sell reels loaded with after market parts ready to go. KTF calls them complete reels, I'm not sure if the others call them something else or not. Here's a link with a brief description of what a complete reel is. http://ww...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

However, be very careful as it's a slippery slope going down this road but if you do I would suggest a complete tuned reel as it is an exceptional value compared to just upgrading spool or tuning on your own. What do you mean by a "clompelte tuned reel"? You mean for example the Megaabss version of...

Re: Best UL BC for trouts in small streams

So recomendations up to now are 16 Aldebaran BFS with tuning spool or Alphas with tuning spool. Nothing out of the box capable of doing the job? For years I said that if there will be a new CC51 I´ll get it for 100%. But the CC BFS is a size 100 reel. And even if it´s a small size 100 it´s still too...
