Re: Which G Loomis NRX rod - 1/8 ounce (+/-) hair jig | Ned head | micro jig
I have a GLX 822 SYR and love the action for shakeyheads. I think I want an extra fast JWR 2 power for thin wire hair / Ned and micro-jigs The 822 DSR feels like the SYR when you pick it up, but when you hooks a fish, it feels more like a 1.5 power-ish with the super forgiving tip. This may be what...

Re: Shimano Exsence
I finally got to test the drag on this thing on some mean Coosa spotted bass this weekend. The startup is incredibly smooth and protected my 8 lb leader just fine in open water. When I needed to pull them quickly away from docks I cranked it down and didn’t budge. I was really impressed and would ea...

Re: My first Megabass
I love this new Exsence and the black stealth color! I had to build an all black "tactical" rod to go with it.

Re: Shimano Exsence
I was in the same boat and just purchased a 3000. Why am I so excited about a spinning reel?
I am building a point blank 701mlf all blacked out with carbon fiber grips! Can’t wait to give this combo a try!

Is a Stella worth it?
I am building a new rod for shakey head and other light spinning applications. I am putting top of the line components on this thing and wanting to make it the best possible. That in mind, I am automatically thinking Stella for the reel. My question is, for freshwater bass(spots, largemouth, and sma...

Re: What trailer to use on a brown jig
Update to my last post, I tried out some Strike King baby rage craws and my be hooked. I love the action these put out and the are fairly durable. I have been throwing them in green pumpkin. And dipping the tips of the claws in chartreuse die.

Re: Orochi XX Jerkbait Spacial
This is a nice rod, but I wanted something just a little bit softer for throwing 110s. I didn't feel like it loaded up enough to get the casting distance I was looking for. I may have been wrong and I am sure others will disagree but I ended up going back to a NRX 802 for jerkbaits. I agree with oth...

Re: Lightest Rod possible
Could you guys expand on grinding or sanding down a reel seat? Belt sander, dremel, how do you do it? Anybody have pictures?

Re: Lightest Rod possible
All of the above, plus… I remove all the finish from my blanks. In some cases, I’ve removed up to .19 oz. Keep in mind, it may void warranty. I’d also use smaller guides (3.5s). I’ve found that EVA is usually heavier than cork. A sculpted skeletonized split reel seat is lighter than the SK2. I use ...

Re: NRX Casting Rod Question
894 would be perfect. You might also look into the 873, might be exactly what you are looking for.
Re: nrx 873
Great rod! I love it for fishing FB jigs and big worms on deep ledges. Also great for c rigs. I throw 15# InvizX on it and can feel everything! Hope you enjoy it. As far as color, I haven't noticed any difference but personal opinion I like the blue.

Re: Ease my worries on the nrx dsr...
I have also used my DSR for small shakey heads and I like the light action, I can cast an eighth a mile! With light braid it is crazy sensitive. Many will say it is to light for that application and I guess they may be correct if you throw heavier jigs, but I like it a lot. In fact I fished shakey h...

Re: Tungsten jigs?
Seems like some reviews of tungsten jigs on TW indicate issues with heads splitting on certain brands. Anyone experience similar issues?
