Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

I thought about it, but the appeal of a Doyo with a ZPi spool kinda made me iffy. Honestly, a Lews cast just as good for $150 in my eyes. It's not the same as a Daiwa with a ZPi spool. I'm curious as to who may have dipped into the pot myself.

Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

I have reels that are 15+- years old with centrifugal breaks, and they are still going strong. It seems to me the newer centrifugal breaking systems are still works in progress. One thing I cant say about the SLX reel, is that VBS is really nice on that reel. Great update to the proven Shimano brak...

Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

Yes, oil on the friction ring will do some weird things to a reel's casting performance. Shimano makes a great product, but this is yet another example of why I prefer mag braking. x10 You shouldn’t have to deal with such nonsense! Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

I lightly polished the brake pipe with Autosol polish, and just to get a nice sheen and the dryness of the cast reduced, the also applied a touch of that Boron Nitride wax lube to it and its definitely quietened down since. I think the red blocks of the CU i series are too dense for that applicatio...

Re: Weird incident with reel, but funny.

Sounds very similar to my experience with my first Ch CI4, though I didn’t have the issues with turning the brakes up and then back down. That is weird. To much oil is definitely a bad thing, but from my experience the Curado I was the only one that really needed it at all. Run my Metaniums, Chrona...

Weird incident with reel, but funny.

So yesterday I decided to go hit a few bank spots while the Wife and kid take a nap. So, along with me my 14Scorpion. I have learned my lesson with the I series to carry a vial of oil and a swab for the brake pipe. So, as Im casting along, I can hear the brakes getting a bit on the dry side, s...

Re: Taking spooled reels on flights...

I fly to Guntersville every year with my reel bag containing 10 reels spooled with line. In fact, it's a carry on. No issues.

Re: How many rods/reels do you actually use

Lets see....17 reels in rotation for use, 20 in the display case, and 12 rods. I love them all, and they have their strengths for certain techniques.

Re: ZILLION PE 100H?

I have the 100H PE spool in my TD Zillion 100H. Its a great spool. I dont think there is much a difference other than the reels external coloration and markings. Either way, if you like the TD platform, you will love it.
