I have recoils the silver ones on my older loomis Mahogony build about 4 yrs a go and haven't experienced any grooves on them. \:D/ If you have used braid with those guides, try a q-tip swabbed around on the inside of the ring to be sure there is no damage that the naked eye can't see. You actually get a little more casting distance with the 2500, and more drag pressure compared to the 1000. If you are looking for a light reel check out the Shimano Stradic Ci4 it is lighter than the white FJ.

To me thats just the black pearl recoils. I have recoils on my custom G loomis mahagony for about 3yrs now and been using flouro and braid all the time, but never had any grooves in the recoil guides.

Lets just say the bent handle and stars on the 2nd generation revos. Would they fit w/o any issues?

Older models are better i still have my gen 1 stx working like new for 6 yrs now. Plus most of my fishing comes from salt water :D
