Looks to be cheaper if you build it yourself, buy reel from digitaka and parts from ktf and you will be ahead even before reselling original parts.
Yea, but then you wouldn't have the cool KTF sticker...LOL

Re: Dobyns xtasy or kistler zbone

What is your weight of the 7'6 heavy? The kistler website says 3.8 oz. That can't be right... How would you compare it to your NRX. This rod seems to fit the bill for me for 1oz jigs and punching. Combining super sensitivity with great balance and sturdy build quality. Care to comment? Thx! The rod...

Re: Dobyns xtasy or kistler zbone

A little off the topic but have you compared the xtasy and zbone to a nrx? The reason I’ve been looking at these 2 is I’ve been unhappy with the quality of finished product with the NRX. However no one can argue the sensitivity. I’ll be mounting a met mgl I have an NRX 894, and a CNQ 904, the NRX i...

thx a lot tommy. is that zbone tip heavy?
Not too bad, it's a 7-6 Heavy powered rod, so you are aware that you have some weight in your hand.

Re: Dobyns xtasy or kistler zbone

I have a 755 Xtasy and a 7-6 LE-5 Z-Bone, 2019. While i like the full cork and balance of the Xtasy, if I'm going to throw a 10 or 12 in worm I will always pick up the Z-Bone, it's got that "electric" feel. Not that the Xtasy is a slouch, I guess I just expected a little more. Going to give the Xta...

Re: Steez XBD SVF Discontinued?

Quick (a bit unrelated question) here since it is about the same rods. I am looking for a heavy Jig rod (3/4oz - 1.5 oz). I have used the XBD Frog rod for a while here, since I did not have anything else but was not super happy with the sensitivity of it. Now I am strongly considering the Steez AGS...

Re: Taking spooled reels on flights...

Years ago I read that taking reels that were spooled with line was a no-no for most airlines. Is this still a thing? Planning to take some gear with me on my next vacation and would strongly prefer not to check my reels and want to make sure I don't have any issues carrying stuff on. True, spooled ...

Re: Part of the club now

Only got to try a 1016 spool today with 8lb big game. Was throwing a weightless fluke (bubblegum of course) and could only throw out with brakes maxed out and spool tension to where the fluke would only move if I flicked the rod. Got surprisingly good distance also considering it was quite windy. I...

You have two really good rods! The NRX 894 would be another choice. Good luck in your search!

JDM Zillion HD 1520.jpg[/attachment [attachment=0]JDM Zillion HD 1520.3.jpg How does that monster plam? Like an older Tatula without the mag dial rubbing on your finger? I could go for that. I want a "1516" spool reel to play around with those sized spools. Don't have an older Tat to compare, but i...
