Re: Ultralight Reel Suggestion

I have a sahara and took it to florida for 2 1/2 weeks. I wasn't even going to use it but I broke a medium heavy spinning rod and decided it wasn't that fun throwing a medium heavy baitcaster and only catching small to medium speckled trout. Last day I caught about a dozen trout up to 20 1/2 inches,...

Re: Ultralight Reel Suggestion

Some stradic fj's can be had for around $140 now that the fh came out. Anybody have the fh yet. I wonder what the difference is.

Re: Field & Stream Kayaks

I am pretty happy with my field and stream kayak. One of the biggest complaints I've heard is about the seat hurting peoples backs. The seat looks kind of cheap but it doesn't hurt mine. The other thing is the rod holder is mounted too far forward and is hard to reach. I moved it back and mounted a ...

You can use the harbor freight trailer for long trips if you upgrade the tires. I haven't done it but know someone who has.

Re: Hello from Japan!

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. Nice job with those fish. I can't help you with any tips on fishing in Japan. Haven't been anywhere near there. Maybe some others can. I personally haven't found this Saltwater forum all that helpful. Doesn't seem to me that many people are on it. I get most of my inf...

Re: Lamiglas Infinity IF702UL

I have no knowledge of that particular rod. I do have a medium lamiglas rod which I like. It was my late fathers custom made 2 pc. rod. It was broken and I thought it would be neat to fix it and start fishing with it. I sent it back to their warranty department and after a long wait they sent me bac...

Re: what size spinning reel for mojo surf 10ft medium rod?

I read on another forum that stratic 4000 and 5000 are basically the same reel but the 5000 has a bigger spool. It said you could put a 5000 spool on a 4000, but you had to use the 5000 knob with it.

Re: What line

I've been a fan of nanofil but am leaning more to power pro lately. Will definetly use a leader in clear water. On a recent striper trip my 2 buddies and I were all throwing the exact same spoons. The water was shallow and very clear. I was using 6lb. nanofil, 1 buddy was using powerpro tied direct ...

Re: What line

I always go very light. I use 6lb nanofil and 10 lb. power pro with 15lb. fluoro leader. I attach leader with a jt knot that I think will go through micro guides. Not sure, I only use spinning tackle.

Very nice fish. Why do you use a leader with the fireline? I fish 4lb. fireline without a leader.

Re: UL only?

I've never used just ultra light and have been using heavier tackle this year more than normal because I'm trying to win a contest by catching the largest fish in several different species. Winner gets $500 gift certificate to BP. Right now I'm fishing the Chesapeake as much as I can for Stripers an...

Re: $60 rods

Tried out my new 6' 6" procyon today. Put on a 500 size shimano reel and headed to a local pond. Caught a 19 3/4 Largemouth on it. I like it, seems very similar to my St. Croix. Definitely worth the $36 plus shipping.

Re: $60 rods

My favorite fishing rod that I own, besides a St. Croix and a gloomis is a 5 foot Berkly strike ultra light. I still use it even though it's probably 25 years old and have caught plenty of big fish on it.
