Re: Vintage Ultralight
Thanks for the reply on the SS600. I figured it's a JDM version of the 700 and like you said probably slightly smaller line capacity. I own a couple of the 700's, I still use them for UL trout fishing. Something about the simple older reels I like, just like the Shakespeare 2200 025 simple but under...

Re: Vintage Ultralight
Sorry to go off topic, but since the ss700 was brought up, I thought I might ask Smead a question. Do you happen to know the difference if any between the Daiwa SS700 and the SS600 from Japan? I've seen them years past and besides the color scheme they almost look identical, I can't find any specs o...

What I use and what I have sitting is whole different story. I currently only use 5-6 rods and 5-6 reels now days.

Re: Single Finest JDM Reel?
Obtained a whole lot of different JDM baitcasters and spinners over the years, and although it does have it's limitations as far as applications, the single finest JDM for me is the Shimano Conquest 51.

Re: Spray lubricant for reels
I'm a little curious why shimano Japan sells a pack of spray grease and oil.... Shimano Spray Grease was for spraying grease into the Shimano Maintenance Ports on spinning reels. Grease not oil should go into the port. The port was a way to grease the gears for those who do not like to strip the re...

Re: Stradic FK Maintenance Port
Barramaniac is correct. The maintenance ports on Shimano Spinners, should only be used for grease, specifically spray grease.

Matt makes excellent custom rods I have 2 customs made by him a few years back and to this day they are without question my favorite rods.

Re: Your lightest Ultralight combo
Well I had to go back and look and found my Shimano MLZ 10 weighs 5.88, my Daiwa 500c weighs 5.10 which is less than my Laguna 500Bi which I forgot I even had, the box for the Laguna 500 5Bi says it weighs 5.9 oz but on my scale the actual weight is 5.15 oz and my Daiwa UL7 weighs 5.35. So I stand c...

Re: Your lightest Ultralight combo
I have a custom 4' 6" NFC rod made by Matt Davis the weighs 2.30 oz, coupled that with my Vanquish 1000S which is around 5.65 with a full spool of 4lb fireline, comes out to just around 7.95 to 8 ounces total rod and reel. I don't usually pair my 4'6 with a 1000 size reels, I usually have 500 sizes ...

I'm sure some of you already have seen the pictures of the 2015 Shimano Twinpower SW/Twinpower , kind of looks a little bit like the Vanquish design

Re: Symetre 500fl have x ship???
The Symetre 500 FL does NOT have X-ship. I have the box and papers, unfortunately it won’t allow me to post the dang schematics and feature list (file too big) but it says X-SHIP and Varispeed II Oscillating System (except #500) but it does list Maintenance Port and Varispeed (#500 only) .
