Those original TDZs had terrible drag washers... any bit of oil in there and the drag was useless.

If you scroll through the Reels Menu page on our main site, there are quite a few reviews for $100 - $150 range reels up there now including the Okuma Cerros, Lew's Speed Spool LFS, Abu Garcia Revo S, Shimano SLX and more...
