Re: Need Daiwa JDM Reel Servicing Recs

It ultimately boils down to each reel model. Daiwa Japan offers models that differ from Daiwa USA. I’ll use Certate LT as an example. Daiwa USA offers a Certate 5000D and Japan offers a Certate 5000D-XH. While most of the parts are interchangeable, the gears from the XH can not be purchased in the U...

Re: Tackle Trap Reel Repair

Just a simple question, generally how long does it take to get a non warrantied reel repaired? I sent in a Steez A and had called to check the status but I feel bad to continue bothering them, I know they are busy and I know they do great work along with being a great retailer in general. Just curi...

Re: Tackle Trap Reel Smooth Premium Reel Grease?

The grease will hold up well with light use in saltwater, but I’m not sure how it would hold up to frequent salt use.

Re: Tackle Trap Reel Smooth Premium Reel Grease?

This grease is a blend I came up with about 5 years ago. It’s base is a full synthetic grease, cut with a quality synthetic oil. It’s blended to be light enough for fluid rotation of the reel, but thick enough to protect components and stay in place. I’ve used this in all sorts of weather conditions...

Re: Certate LT weak bail issue?

Guys I’ve had this problem right out of the box. So it can’t be crud build up or bent bail wires. Thanks for the replies. I’ll keep trying Daiwa since it sounds like a defect. If you wish to continue trying Daiwa, that’s totally up to you. As an authorized warranty center, we can fix it or get it r...

Re: Certate LT weak bail issue?

It could be a weak bail spring causing the issue, or some debris between the rotor and bail arm. I’ve not seen any issues come past my bench yet. If you want to send it in, we can get it covered as a warranty repair for you.

Thanks, Bryan

Re: —Daiwa Catalina TW 4.9:1–

How do the two differ in braking profile? The HD is fixed inductor and the Catalina is Magforce Z, correct? Correct - the new Zillion HD has a fixed inductor and Catalina TW is Magforce Z. Both are very capable casters but the Zillion HD has a more consistent, controlled feel all the way through th...

Re: Steez SV TW frame swap

By the time you purchase a frame, gear side plate, palm side plate, latch for palm side plate, and gear set, you’ll be better off selling your Steez A and purchasing a Steez SV TW I don’t believe the Steez A palm side plate is compatible to the Steez SV TW frame, and truthfully, without changing the...

Re: Screeching Zillion HD

Well I thought the drop of oil took care of it but I probably just could not hear it on the river- Tore the reel down today for a thorough cleaning and lube, put it back together and there's that screech again really only noticeable on a really "hard" cast. Reel was new this fall and probably put 2...

Re: Bearings?????

If you don't mind the rough feel and loud noise from them, then you will be ok. Personally, I wouldn't put them in any reel, much less my own. Bearings are definitely one of the items that you get what you pay for.

Re: Og steez

That pin you are referring to doesn’t lock in like the spool shaft pin. It is simply a guide pin to keep the inductor from turning.

Re: TD Fuego Spools

I recently picked up another 100M spool from Adam for a Zillion project. Looks like I'm going to have to try the rotor and spring swap. Where are you guys sourcing the R+ rotor? Does Daiwa USA have them? or can dem good ol boys in Bama find them? Tackle trap had them not to long ago but I didn't bu...

Re: So who bought the ZPI Alcance?

Just shy of a full blown train wreck is what the first one was. A guide friend from Florida bought one to check out. Upon receiving the reel he notices the line guide would not travel. It was sent to me, and the pictures tell the story. Missing parts, under lubed, hot sauce grease, not even ZPI bear...

Re: Supertuning expectations

Depends on your idea of what super tuning is. My ultimate goal when I tune a reel is for smooth effortless use. From clutch engagement, to casting performance, to drag performance. With the move to use more and more plastic in reels, there is less to be polished, but there are still some parts than ...
