Re: Shimano Tranx 300/301 or Daiwa Lexa 300HD or Lexa Winn 300?

FWIW the Lexa 300 has served me very well and is an absolute tank, for me the Lexa palms better, I was going to buy the Tranx 300 but after handling them for a little while i preferred the Lexa, and i'm still running Curado 300's also (one of my all time favorites). My original Lexa 300 has out last...

Re: Metanium MGL gear swap

I think it was a good upgrade I did A Met. 13 and an MGL both left hand 8 to 1 ratio. Both of my reels were smoother afterwords.
Items needed:
1. Met Pinion Gear
2. Curado K Drive Gear
3. Curado K Fiber Drag Washer
4. Shimano Star Drag Grease

Easy stuff!

Re: What's next for Shimano???

I have wish list item... How about Micro Module Gears that are actually smooth ](*,) I have two different Steez and they are liquid smooth without the buzzing feeling of my micro module reels when under load. My Tats are even smoother than my Mets. and MGL!

Re: Bantam MGL reviews?

I purchased a Bantam 8.1:1 for light Salmon duty and was not impressed, I used it back to back with two Mets. 13 & MGL using the same rod and line (8lb P-line CXX) and for me i liked the Mets. better. I returned the Bantam, mine was very picky casting and was not as smooth under load (Micro Module i...

Re: It’s 2018, why are you buying reels from the past

I'm in both camps on this one, I have lots of classics but Mets. 13/MGL and the Steez SV and A's have pulled me away, I don't use the classics anymore even though they look new in the box. The high speed retrieve has been the biggest revelation now I at least have a fighting chance of keeping up wit...

Re: Daiwa Bearing Issues

What are the chances of the pinion bearing going bad on two reels bought by one customer and so quickly? Am I understanding this thread correctly? I’ve had a steez in my cart with plat forever and just hesitant to ‘cheat’ on my zillions. I’ve also not heard of this issue before. I think it may be s...

Re: Daiwa Bearing Issues

Im gonna put my money on the pinion bearing. Seems to be common with these new Daiwa and Shimano reels. Im sure they are using the same bearing manufacturer. If the problem is intermittent, then Matt is correct. Its gotta be the pinion bearing. Yep feels like it's the bearing I used a needle oilier...

Re: Daiwa Bearing Issues

Thanks Dom! I wonder if ZPI sells the pinon bearings? does anyone know what size they are without taking the reel apart first?
I switched spools and the problem continued so the spool bearings are good!

Thanks, Kurt

Re: Daiwa Bearing Issues

Thanks Tommy, the handles are good i'm thinking its has to be the pinion bearings after my Steez SV dried out is was smooth again but the Steez A is supposed to have a Mag-Sealed bearing on the pinon? I was thinking it was water intrusion into the bearing but it would have to get past the spool bear...

Daiwa Bearing Issues

I have a Steez SV 130XSL and a Steez A XSL and both reels withing the first two hours of use started intermittently to develop bearing knock, eight times per turn of the handle a knock in an otherwise butter smooth retrieve varying from barely perceptible to thump... thump... thump. I just received ...

The JDM Met. MGL is a casting machine, and an absolute joy to use.

Re: Bantam MGL reviews?

If mine was buttery smooth or cast amazing it would be something but its neither, heck my Tatulas, Steez and even Curado I are smoother and cast better so I'm probably returning or selling mine, for less money you can get a Met. MGL and have a very nice reel. I don't think my Curado K was an improve...

Re: Steez A vs Steez SV103 8.1:1 ?

The SV103 will bomb it out there to, i'm pretty impressed with the versatility of my Steez SV 103XSL so far and its smoother than all of my Shimano's :D

Re: Bantam MGL reviews?

Anyone got a line on the 151 XG in stock for under $300? I will probably be returning mine  the performance just isn't worth the price, there are to many other reels that are more refined at this price point. The Bantam spool capacity should be good for Steelhead fishing if you need it, I do...
