Which rod for a daiwa pluton?

Hey all, I was wondering what would be the best rod to pair with a Daiwa Pluton. I will generally be fishing the reel from the beaches and piers here in Florida. Mostly, I will be targeting inshore species such as spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, snook, redfish, and bluefish. Occasionally, I might r...

Re: Quantum Smoke Drag Issue Please Help

Quantum uses those junk pressed paper fiber washers in most reels. They also started using some carbontex in some reels. I have seen both types in smoke reels so I don't know if it was one model that got one type etc. or if they switched to all carbon a few years into production. In any case, if yo...

Re: Quantum Smoke Drag Issue Please Help

When I manually pull the line slowly, the drag is semi smooth, but I can feel it catch and stutter a little bit. When I pull faster the drag stutters also. I looked at the schematic and everything seems to be installed correctly. The drag washers are also correctly put together. Should I put some gr...

Quantum Smoke Drag Issue Please Help

Hey everyone, So I began to have this problem a couple months ago with the drag on my quantum smoke baitcaster continually sticking and catching when a fish takes a little run. Its like the drag catches for a little bit and locks down, then it releases the tension and catches itself again. So as the...

Re: best topwater frogs

+2 on the iobee frog! Walks great and the hook sets quite nicely. Might be too big a profile for down there though. Are you using the smallest koppers frog? The iobee is about the size of the medium sized koppers frog.

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

How about those new revo toro nacl 50? Seems like a good combination of high capacity with LP size / good drag.

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

I think the zillion coastal would be fine for snook and reds, but how about long running fish like bonita and king mackerel? Is the drag smooth and buttery, or sharp and abrupt? I have looked at the revos, they are enticing and Im eyeing the revo inshore gen 3, but I won't make a decision on that un...

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

The zillion coastal looks like a great inshore reel, but I am a little worried with the drag. The zillion type r looks better, but I would rather have the pluton for that money to target kings and bonita.

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

They are technically round reels, but I did ask for suggestions on round reels because I have never used one. The only reels I have used that are similar are big conventional reels such as the saltiga and torium. I was not sure if the smaller ones cast as nicely as the LP, but for the most part afte...

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

Thank you all for the suggestions. After much looking around, I think my decision has come down to the curado 300's, Daiwa lexa 300, daiwa pluton, or the revo inshore. The lexa and pluton both are really sexy, its just so hard to decide!

Need some topwater help.

Hey guys, for some reason I need some serious help using topwater baits. The only things I have caught bass on is a rapala skitterpop. I usually fish a lake that is stocked with bass and I think bream or sunfish. Whenever I use a senko, or roboworm I can catch up to 4 or 5 bass in the course of an h...

Best inshore low profile baitcasters?

Hey guys, I was wondering what your opinions were on what would be the best inshore low profile baitcaster. Price is not an issue, but less is more imo. Currently, I have been eyeing the new revo inshore by Abu that they debuted at iCast 2012, but I am not too familiar with the inshore/SW baitcastin...
