Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?

The majority of the CU300 model reels were sold into the saltwater market. The rest were split pretty evenly between the bass and muskie markets. I don't think a deeper spool on the 200 would solve the demand for a smaller diameter spool 300 size reel. Don’t forget us Salmon/Steelhead guys in Nor C...

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?

The Tranx 300 is nice but the way it’s packaged I’d have to buy the reel for $280 and the paddle handle for another $35. That’s a little more than I wanna spend. For some reason current offerings seem to have left out the freshwater market guys for the 300 size reels. Bantam - if even you are changi...

Re: Steel head Reel questions

^Thanks. I will try some “smaller” reels in Norway this summer. The 200/300 sizes are fine in Denmark where waterways, which do not even qualify as rivers, are smaller and slower. Out of curiosity: Do you use lures and if so which ones? When casting from shore for Salmon we use Blue Fox #5 and #6 a...

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?

I’d actually be ok with the cost being the same or close to the Tranx, as long as I could get it in a high speed version (7:1 plus) with a standard handle (no power knob). Basically an updated version of the 300e with a slightly higher gear ratio.

Re: Steel head Reel quest

Thanks for input! Do you fish from boat or shore? 300 size reels would be borderline small for atlantic salmon in big/fast norwegian water esp. if fishing from shore. I have only done big/fast water fishing a couple of times and it just amazes me how much extra stress it puts on the tackle (and the...

Any chance of a Curado 300K?

Any chance a 300K is in the future? Don’t need the bells and whistles of the Tranx and love the matte finish on the K.

Re: Steel head Reel questions

Diehard Salmon and Steelie fisherman here myself. For Steelies I use a Curado K in the 200 size and absolutely love it. I’ve had more refined reels but have found the Curado line to be the sweet spot between refinement and durability. Used to use the E series for years but when the K came out switch...

Re: Changing Handle Grip on Riveted Post (Daiwa)

If you have a local shop that carries the reel i would see if the 2000 handle will screw in to the 2500 reel. If it does just get the part number and order the handle. Cheap easy and nothing is ruined. Did that. Also confirmed with Daiwa cust service. According to them none of the other reels with ...

Re: Changing Handle Grip on Riveted Post (Daiwa)

That's way too much work and risk for a inexpensive handle on a mid-level reel. I would think that your time is a worth a lot more than that. Buy the cheapest Daiwa spinning handle that has a post with a screw and put an I-shape knob on it. You need to make sure that it is the screw-in style handle...

Changing Handle Grip on Riveted Post (Daiwa)

Just picked up a Daiwa BG 2500. Love the reel, but really prefer more of a finesse grip like what comes on the BG 2000 rather than the power grip "T" style on the BG 2500. Unfortunately the grip is riveted on (only thing so far I dislike about it). I've watched a few videos online showing how to cut...

No leaked pics of the new Curado yet? I hear it will be unveiled at iCast - usually we see some stealthy pics of pro staff field testing the new reels by this time...

Swapping Handle Knobs for Curado 200e7?

I'm interested in switching out the stock Septon handle knobs on an e7 with EVA foam knobs. Are there any other Shimano models with EVA knobs that would fit (Sustain, Ci4 Stradic, Caenan? ? I don't want to change the handle - just the knobs. Appreciate any help.

Re: Looking for a smooth-drag spinning reel

Been very happy with my Shimano Saros. Insider info says it's the best bang for the buck in the Shimano spinning lineup at the moment and I tend to agree. I look at it as the Curado of spinning reels - a workhorse. Reel new is 150 and spare spool 25. Right on budget.
