Re: Good jerkbait that’s better than a 110 or pointer?

Lots of good jerkbaits on the market. The MB 110 and LC pointer are great. Have you tried the slender pointer (long slender profile) or the pointer 78? Both are little smaller in profile and seem to work great in cold water when fish are keying in on smaller prey. The IMA stick is a nice jerkbait th...

Re: Repainting a reel...

Bumblebee themed? Like the yellow Pixy or TDZ PO.

Once this is complete, you can start on another transformer!

Keep us posted, looks good so far!

Re: Supertuning/Modifying your reels...

I always fish any new or pre owned purchased reel as is or stock, the way it came. I want to see what it is like and if I am happy with it in its current state. If something seems off I see what can be done to alter that. Sometimes, a handle, spool, spool bearings, a cleaning, bearing flush, or have...

Can someone please super tune my Shishamo ? It has 16 bearings and I swear one of them is making noise.
Better send that one to Bill Nye the Science Guy. ;)

Re: List of reel tuners

Here are some that I have used in no particular order, note none are bad but they each have their plusses and minuses. 1. Dan Issacs - ReelEx - All he did for years was Shimano but now he is working on other reels. He offers the quickest turnaround and if I am not mistaken supertuning/polishing is i...

Re: Fishing ole classics

I love new and classic reels. The more simplistic maintenance of older more bulletproof reels is nice for someone like me that doesn't want to monkey around with reels with the DC system and more complex insides like a Conquest. The Conquest 50, Chronarch D, Curado 100b and E series Shimanos are the...

Spanky at the Trap

Dan Issac at ReelEx

Trey at TH Custom and Reel tuning

Ian Shields -EBassfisher on the forum here

All do great work and are familiar with JDM reels. Only differences may be turn around time in some cases.

Re: RaGe vs. Spicy beaver

I have 3 packs of spicy beavers. It will be a versatile bait and a lot more action and move a lot mor water than the standard beaver variations. It sort of like a beaver and a rage craw married together in the fact that spicy beaver will have a lot of bull in the body but a lot of movement in the cr...

Re: Used SS SV or Tatula SV TW

The Tatula isn’t loved by the enthusiast, I get it. But it’s hard to find a better reel for a beginner. I set up a Tat CT on a cheap med action rod with 12# mono for my niece. She loves to fish, but was intimidated by baitcasters. I set it up where it was hard to backlash, pretty choked down but st...

Re: Help me pair a reel to Kistler H3 Heavy

Zillion of T3. If set up properly the T3 can really sling a bait like a frog a long ways. I have several frog outfits and one of them uses a T3. It works like a champ. The zillion may be better for the part of frog fishing where your fish comes back dragging 10 lbs of salad with it since the interna...

Re: Used SS SV or Tatula SV TW

The Tat SV feels more solid. It also does light weight baits well. Plus since they are a dime a dozen parts are easy to get. Should be not like it the reel will sell quickly as there is a large market for them

Re: TDZ guys...

For a beat up reel like a TDZ I think a fresh coat of paint will increase the value. I bought a TDZ 103h recently that some marks, rash, and beat up chrome nose pieces for about $80. If I took that reel and slapped a new coat of paint on it by a reputable painter while keeping the internal function ...
