I did this and then woke up a year later with a full beard, a room full of rods and reels, and a lot less money in the bank.

From Fisher to hipster after one year

Re: Conquest Skeptic

Nice fleet of rods and reels!

Thanks for the quick thoughts.

Not sure if I would ever get a Conquest rod. Just seems like so many mixed reviews. Many feel they are juice just not worth the added cost.

Re: I believe she is the "one"

Congrats and I like the narrative. =D> Interesting thoughts and that is the great thing about the rod market today. So many options to help fill the gaps. I think the Mets are great on the 3 powered rods and something like the Antares would be nice on the 4 powered rods. How would you compare the a...

Re: Lews

Pretty much a mediocre reel. Nothing too innovative or ground breaking. For example nothing catered to tuning like endless spool swaps, BFS components, etc. Shimano gives you things like DC breaking technology, x-ship, silent tune, they perfected VBS breaking, etc. Daiwa with their SV spools, air br...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Thanks JB! Are the 7:7.1 the only “brass” set for this platform? The set from the Curado 50e (6.4:1=26ipt) fits as well. Great cranking ratio, little slow for most other things. KTF also made a 7.9:1 ratio brass set, but have no idea if they are still available anywhere. Thanks JB. I may grab anoth...

Re: Dedicated swimjig rod.

I think the GLX MBR 844 fits the bill perfectly. In fact mine gets used for the same exact baits plus normal bottom jigs. Take something 1/4 to 1/2 oz and a trailer to it and the rod feels nicely at home. Can't speak to the newest MB lines but the prior gen MB Orichi XX EMTF was another good all pur...

Re: Where are the shimanos?

Picked up this little gem off EBay last week. Listed as used, but saw absolutely zero evidence of any use. It is in mint condition, and not even a spec of grass/dirt on it anywhere. Spool was included for a great price, but won’t be able to use it. Added the 102mm handle off a Stile and the high sp...
