Re: Kistler He3 vs ALX Zolo

Nice choice! I have rods from both the Zolo B and H3 lines. I think they are very good buys for the money. Both have similar cosmetics. I think they both have good feel as well but feel the taper on the Zolo to be more versatile. For $200-250 give or take sale prices and what not, they are good mid ...

Re: Need some advice: Metanium MGL

1st welcome to TT! Nice choice for a Shimano reel. Lot of options... 1. I would suggest trying it stock. That way when you apply any upgrades you can judge for yourself if there is a difference. 2. You can buy a set of brass gears for it. Many have done this with great success. The stock gears, at l...

Re: Calcutta 200b/gtb

I picked up my Conquest 50 for $165. It has some pix sized marks on it but came complete with reel cover plus box and paperwork. If you can live with some cosmetic wear and tear I am sure you could find one for a good price.

Re: How come other manufacturers don’s use as much salt as Yamamoto

I would think it would be for sink rate, some sort of flavor that would make fish want to hold on longer, and perhaps casting distsnce.

I have no problems with baits with salt other than longevity.

Re: Phenix Feather Light

http://i64.tinypic.com/otqmmv.jpg I have that rod with a pixy on it. Its a nice rod for the price, no bells or whistles but id say its similar if not a tag more sensitive than the og tatula line of rods. The light power weighs 3.0oz and it is soft but not too soft. I've casted as light as 1/16oz bu...

Re: Recent builds

Nice work! Thanks for the photos and narrative.

I too have 873 MHX Hi Mod. What started off as a rod for bigger jigs evolved into my frog rod. Paired with an Esxence DC it really shines!

Phenix Feather Light

Anyone using the Feather Light action casting rod? Was interested in hearing some thoughts or feedback. I did some research on the series and it seems many feel they run a half power to a full power under. The 7’1 Light casting rod is rated 1/8-3/8. I was wanting to match it up to a Pixy. Mainly int...

Re: Jigs with Living Rubber

Grab some Northstar jigs from their website. They have The black series in football or Alien head which features living rubber plus their Southpaw series is like a beefed up swimjig or grass jig with living rubber. Under $4 a jig wire tied. Right now they have a sitewide 30% off for Black Friday whi...

I did this and then woke up a year later with a full beard, a room full of rods and reels, and a lot less money in the bank.

Re: Fenwick Techna GP???

Had to drag up this prehistoric post.... So in the course of all of these years has anyone had any experience with these rods? I have been increasingly interested in the 7'4 light or 7'4 ml for some long distance finesse fishing setups, maybe even the 611ml. These were Fenwicks cats meow (besides t...
