Re: Protecting reels from scratches

I am quite careful and always keep them covered but bobber and egg fishing for salmon and having to rebait every few casts makes it impractical to cover reel every time..... If only i had a third arm! I have heard of a third “leg” but never an arm. :big grin: I am going to sit in the corner in time...

Re: Tackle Tour LIVE

Sounds like a couple of winners for your spool choices. Sadly I had a few pixies out with stock spools, 1/8 oz lures and 4 pound line. Add those wind gusts and random change of directions and it was a disaster. One bird nest was so bad I had to make sure the Eagles and hawks weren’t thinking that wa...

Re: Tackle Tour LIVE

I could host the watch this backlash special! Wind here has been fierce (15-25 with gusts over 35). I had two reels blow up on me bad last weekend

Re: Lets see all them Daiwa's

I love all the color variations of the zillion sv tw’s! I didn’t see a gold one in there so I’ll post mine. It’s got a steez a 90mm handle, full slp works dress up kit, slp limited event gold knobs, zpi pg spool and bearings, HH studio gold parts to round it out. It sits on my Sedition White Falcon...

The PX SPR doesn't have other compatible spools unless one changes the breaking system. [-X
Read my post. Anything BUT the PX SPR

Re: Getting into BFS

My advice for what it is worth is this: 1. Buy a Pixy variant from the original line not the PX SPR, for under $200 2. Buy a Majorcraft UL BFS rod for under a few hundred 3. Get a light braided line or small mono around 6 pound test Fish this with the baits you have in mind. 1/8 to 3/8 should be ace...

Double G bought a reel from me. Was quick to pay. Easy to work with and stayed in touch until the reel arrived. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy or sell with him again. :D

Re: Isn't it crazy that some Daiwa platforms are almost 20y old and still in production?

I agree with Cal and Maverick. The Alphas is just a great platform that people really enjoy. No need to change the footprint, just keep dumping newer, better tech in it. I'd like to see a new frame as well, but I also feel the Steez SV TW was the money shot. With so many tuning options, we can all ...

Bought a Mb rod from Marc. He was quick to point out the flaws. Was easy to deal with and responded promptly to all questions. An absolute joy to work with even though I am in the US and he is in Canada. Would love purchase more things from Marc in the future! Thanks for the positive transaction! Eh...

Re: Taming my 100m spool

You could try a few things that are of minimial cost: 1. Try a different line if you are using flourocarbon 2. Don’t over spool the reel. Sometimes 2/3 or 3/4 is better than filling it 85-90 percent full 3. During the day light hours make a cast. Then peel off about a another half casts worth of lin...
