Bottom Contact Rod!
I fish mainly G-Loomis/Shimano rods. I need a rod for swing heads for catching smallmouth. I fish in deep water and fast rivers. Head weights range from 1/2- 1oz, but 3/4 is my comfort zone on 17-20lb fluorocarbon. Water depth ranges from 10-50 feet. What rod would you recommend? I would prefer that...

Best Rod for Poppers and Prop Baits
I'm partial to G-Loomis and Shimano rods but curious what others are using for poppers and smaller prop baits. I fish mainly casting rods. I'm pairing mine with Curado DC reels but open to suggestions. Favorite mono and pound test for this set-up?

Minn Kota Fortrex Squeak
I've got a squeak coming from my directional arrow on my Fortrek. Quick fix?!? Rest of the motor works great! If you press on the arrow...noise goes away... release pressure...it squeaks!

Gamma Edge vs Gamma Touch
Do 99% of my fishing on the Great Lakes for smallmouth.
Thinking of using Gamma 7lb Touch for drop shotting and 8lb Edge for tube jigs. Thoughts?

Re: NRX JWR 852C or NRX MRB 842C
Came looking for a post like this!
I'm looking for a jerkbait rod for smallies, plain and simple. Vision 110, Jackall Dowzvido, LC Staysee 90 and Pointer 100s...
Will the NRX MBR 842 handle these baits or will it be overloaded?

G-LOOMIS SMR812C-JB vs JBR 812C
I have the JBR 812C and find it too stiff for fishing jerk baits for smallies. Has anyone fished the Bronzeback version? Is it softer? Any other suggestions for jerkbait rods are welcomed. I through Staysee 90's, Pointer 100's, Jackall Dowzvido, Squad Minnow, you get the picture! Suggestions for ree...
Re: MBR 844
Awesome info, thanks guys. I'll pop into my local G-Loomis shop and put the suggested rod through the paces. Knowing that the 894 is slower with a faster tip intrigues me... What do most guys use their NRX 893 for? I've tried burning spinnerbaits with it...wrong rod for the job but seems fine with ...

Re: MBR 844
Arrgggg....! I love the classic actions, and rediscovered how much I missed them when I fished the IMX MBR 844 and landed some big fish on it. I have the NRX JWR 893 and I do like it but not love it. I am tempted by the 894 indeed... if only it was more parabolic....
Re: MBR 844
Thanks for the replies. Dux, you answered my next two questions! I'm an NRX junkie also but considered if the NRX 894 was the best bet.
