What happened to the LiveTarget Ultimate Frog?

I saw videos of this frog being unveiled at iCast 2022 and was intrigued because of the lure's leg kick motion. I wanted to pick up a few for testing this spring but can't find it for sale anywhere. I can't seem to find any news article or info on if it was ultimately cancelled or if it made it to p...

Re: Free rigging a wacky worm

I haven't tried it yet, but it's a technique I intend to. Matt Stefan posted a video on this "reverse wacky rig" a few days ago and the video shows the action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyRwFscSNWw

Any other worms similar to OSP MMZ worm?

I've really been enjoying using the OSP MMZ worms for largemouth. For those unfamiliar with them, they are an S-shaped plastic worm; they're the most lifelike worm I've seen. I'm throwing them wacky rigged, weightless, and the largemouth, smallmouth, and panfish are going crazy for them. The action ...

Re: Snakehead lures

Your description is a little fuzzy, but I'm guessing it's a type of lure called a "jump frog". Google the term and you'll see plenty of images. It's a lure that I'm actually buying next year to add to my largemouth arsenal.

Re: Pop X max

A split ring is not needed in my experience. Both the Pop X and Pop X Max walk fine when tied directly to the lure.

Re: New drop shot hooks not finesse enough?

I feel the new hooks with built-in swivels don't serve a purpose either. The extra hardware not only adds additional weight (however small) but also add to the visual clutter and may spook fish. I think the added weight stops the lure from falling at a natural rate, something I don't want. And nearl...

Re: Braid to flouro questions

Most guys will suggest that you not use a palomar knot with fluoro line. Many believe the issue is that when a palomar is tied, the line bites into itself and thus creates a weak point, something that isn't a problem with braid but is when using fluorocarbon. I did see one video online that says the...

Re: Fenwick River Runner

I have a two-piece River Runner, 7'2". It definitely has a softer action than bass rods. For comparison, it's softer than my dropshot rod, a Megabass XX. Besides casting lightweight lures very well, it does have some backbone. The largest bass I've landed was a four pounder largemouth. I did also la...

Re: Knot question

I'm running 30 lb braid to 10 lb fluoro leader and have used the FG knot for about a year an a half now. I really like it, it's very strong. When I've gotten hung up, it almost always breaks at the terminal knot, not the leader connection knot. Note that this is what I want to happen in the event of...

Re: Light line leader connection

Almost all of my fishing is done with lighter lines (20-30 lb braid with 10-15 lb fluoro leader). I still use the FG knot as my connection knot, but I do tie this at home. I tend to use a 3-4 feet leader so that as I cut and retie lures, there's no need to retie the leader itself. However, when on t...

Re: Trout baits?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm a newb at this. How do dropping water temps and post cold fronts affect trout in these ponds? Is is similar to other cold water fish like pike and musky in that it does not negatively affect their behavior and often 'activates' them by pushing them shallow or do...

Re: UL/L Spinning Combo

Are you asking for recommendations? Your post doesn't make it clear what your point is. If you go the used route, I'm thinking you could save a bit of money. I have a setup similar to what you seem to be trying to put together: a Fenwick River Runner (6'9" two piece) and a Stradic Ci4 1000 (1st gene...

Re: MB Vision 110 jr worth the coin?

Would love to hear from people who have fished it? And if it works in any situation where the larger 110 doesn't, which to be honest, seems to always work for me. I've used both, and to answer your question, I haven't noticed any situations where the fish stopped biting until I switched to the Jr. ...

Re: Braid to fluorocarbon

I usually use the albright, alberto, or FG knot, depending on the situation: FG knot : I tie this knot if I'm at home preparing the night before. It's a knot that I still take my time to tie carefully, even though I've used it for about two years now. It's not a knot that can be rushed, so I don't t...

Re: Shouldn't Megastrike have an odor to it?

This might be a little late after the experiment by Stykbowslim, but my tube of orignal MegaStrike only has a very slight smell. It should be noted that my tube is about three years old as I rarely use it (not because it's ineffective, but because I rarely feel like I need it to make my lures attrac...
