I think most will work but JJ's Magic is the one I use most often. It's a dip that somehow seems to soak into the bait.

Those Omen's do look nice for the money. I use a Dobyns Savvy 703c for that same application, as well as spinnerbaits.

That was definitely a trick. The new Antares will supposedly cast a lure 99-100 meters. The E series holds well over that, so he didn't spool it.
