Re: New Curado 70 mgl K

I actually like the look of the reel, just not the price. For another $60 I can order the Metanium from Japan and know 100% that it will outperform the 70. For essentially the same price, I can get a Bantam. They may be a hair larger, but they're not big reels at all. If this reel was $179, it'd be...

Re: Dream Jig Rod Build

For some reason I didn't look at the ID for the CCT reel insert. The butt end of the rod is too wide for the reel seat to work. Now I need to find a blank to use with the reel seat (13.50 mm ID). I have an extra 5.0 tube size Torzite tip top. Any suggestions? It looks like the K2 7'6 Heavy would wor...

Re: Dream Jig Rod Build

I will be building up a 736 SJ X-Ray that I'm hoping to use for 1/2 oz jigs. I'm using the G2 carbon split grip with a CCT real seat and torzite guide train. The running guides will be a combination of size 5 and 4.5. I plan on epoxying the butt cap last and will add some tungsten if it doesn't bal...

Re: NFC 736 MB X-Ray Spinning Rod Build

I used the 27x method to space the choker guides. I'm using a 4000 size Daiwa Tatula LT so the choker guide was placed 1377 mm (27 X 51mm) from the tip of the spool. I like using these tiny rubber bands to place guides. I also sealed the cork with U40. The cork is a really low grade and I wish I wou...

Re: NFC 736 MB X-Ray Spinning Rod Build

I got the handle epoxied to the blank. I am also building a casting rod utilizing the new G2 carbon split grips and Mudhole sent me the spinning rod version. Their customer service took care of it fairly easy and is sending me the casting rod version.

Re: NFC 736 MB X-Ray Spinning Rod Build

This morning I epoxied the grips to the handle and reamed it to fit the blank. I used graphite arbors and will need to make a small tape arbor towards the butt since the taper of the blank doesn't match up with the reamer. I am going for the same type of handle and grip as a Steez MML 7'6 AGS. I mea...

Re: Power ratings on new NFC X-Ray blanks?

Started the build tonight by installing the butt cap and finding the spine of the blank. I ended up using an American Tackle G2 carbon butt. The cork was barely large enough for the blank.

Re: Power ratings on new NFC X-Ray blanks?

It wont affect at all, but try to take it from tip! :D Since he expressed his purpose as wanting to reduce the length rather than to alter the action, why make this suggestion? :-k I’m going to keep it at 7’3. I picked up a 853 IMX Pro SJR because I had no idea when the X-Ray blank was going to com...

Re: Frog and Punch rod suggestions

This is what you’re asking for and it comes from the editors of Tackle Tour. Although my personal preference is for a shorter frog rod in the 7’ range, if I wanted a rod to handle both duties this would be my first choice and be damn with the color scheme 😁 http://tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatatulael...

This thread needed a pic of a Luvias LT. This is the balance point on an 852.

Re: Keys to building light and sensitive rods

I have two 736 XRays (one is a SJ and the other is a MBR) that were delivered this week and the supplies. I'm doing torzites on both rods with American Tackle CCT carbon reel seats. One rod is going to be a split grip with cork and a spinning rod and the other is going to have a G2 carbon fiber spli...
