I bought a nubara a few years back though I forgot which model. 2 piece rod with long and short butt attachment. I have a saltiga 4000H. I haven't used it yet, so I can't really describe the action of the rod.

+1 on the Alphas platform. That's all I use. I had conquest and etc. I like the feel of the daiwa swept handle more than Shimano.

I think you will probably have to get ZPI magnetic brake kit or even swap a jdm elite Aurora brake set to make the avail spool work. Evergreener is a jdm Abu expert, hopefully he can chime in in this subject.
