Re: Point Blank 701LXF - Project “Vader”

I picked up a couple eternity 68mxf blanks and found them way less powerful than expected as well. Looking at some database numbers, the MXF eternity blanks are significantly less powerful than the eternity ML powered blanks. I was quite disappointed in them since that was very unexpected. I will pr...

Re: What are your favorite blanks for BFS?

My experience fishing the p700 so far is limited to my pond with an abundance of 11-13” bass and hand sized bluegills. For me, it seems to work better with a 1/16 jighead. Lighter and I have a harder time casting it and getting distance. But, I am fairly new to BFS. It roll casts nicely. I fished it...

Re: What are your favorite blanks for BFS?

I would say the P 700 feels like a true ultra light BFS. I have a MajorCraft UL and L BFS rod, and definitely more like the ultra light one.

Re: What are your favorite blanks for BFS?

I have built two BFS rods so far. One, is on the X-ray P700 but I have not got a reel for it yet (Aldebaran BFS 22 in coming soon). I also built a liberty dS760 and put a Tatula CT Type R with the Ray’s Studio Longcast spool on it. On the heavy side of BFS, but that casts a 1/8 jig head with a 2.8” ...

Re: 1st BFS reel-Aldebaran BFS

I just orders the XG version in left hand. I wanted the HG, but have not seen a left handed version available in ages, so grabbed it while I could.

Re: any experience with liberty dropshot blanks?

For me, I like the action and mainly use it for ball jig heads. It’s got a unique action, soft tip and a little slower like you mentioned, but once you set the hook the tip shuts off and the power kicks in. To compare I built the exact build on an Eternity ML and the liberty definitely has more pow...

Re: any experience with liberty dropshot blanks?

Love the liberty blank, for me the action of just right for BFS applications. I also built on the point blank 701l and I’d one of my favorite blanks to fish. I have the 7-6 liberty drop shot blank. It wasn’t quite what I was hoping for for a finesse blank (shooting for the perfect Ned rig rod for 1...

Re: Entry level Ajing rod for 1/32-1/16oz hair jigs?

If the guides on the rods your are looking at are small and limiting casting distance with 4 lb mono, a larger reel will make it worse. Diameter of the spool should correlate with the size of the first guide on spinning rods.

Re: NFC NEO (Zentron + Carbon) Swimbait Blank

Bump.

So, when do we get an update on Cal’s builds? Do these get in the rotation with normal rod reviews?

And, of course, I am stocked up on all the X-rays I wanted to build for the foreseeable future. :(

Re: Custom Drop-Shot Rod

roddatabase.com used to be a thing, even earlier this year. It had a lot of RDA numbers, so it must have originated from here. It did not have the CCS system numbers. Last I recall, MarkG (???) had something to do with it but I have not seen him around on any boards in ages. I think that is the righ...

Re: Custom Drop-Shot Rod

I will say that I just picked up a couple SCV 70 MLF blanks unpainted, so that does not need to be a concern anymore since you can get them through RodGeeks. My experience with the 7-0 MLF mirrors the review on tackle tour. I have not tried any Point Blank rod blanks yet. They sound fantastic though...

Re: BFS Blanks for T Rig?

Just to clarify on guides, adding guides will not stiffen a rod in anyway. The bare blank is a crisp and stiff as it will ever be and adding weight of any kind decreases those things. Tom Kirkman: “Action is where the rod initially flexes, so no, adding more or less guides will not affect the action...

I ordered on 3/22 and got it 3/28.
I ordered it 3/18, and it hasn't shipped yet..
Sorry.... maybe they are thanking me for my patience with the previous 8 blanks I ordered from them. I will say they do seem to be getting faster. This order and my previous one were both quick.
