Re: Diawa Pixy/PX68 Alternative

I use the PX68 Liberto to throw lighter baits. I love the reel. Anyhow, I have been well stocked on rods and reels for the past few years and have not kept up with new designs or reels. I've been thinking about getting another rod and reel as a backup but Diawa not longer offers a pixy that I can f...

Re: Good allround spool for T3 MX?

Man.. you really like talking about that ss/sv  Sorry bout that, I actually just talk to much in general, and on here... I guess I just talk about that specific reel because there was so much hate for it. Unfortunately I rarely use it much now because I don't crank much. It's all good buddy, I...

Re: Frankensteining the SV103...

The magnets are not the issue with reel feeling over braked. It’s the inductor on the stock spool. That’s why I’ve been running the Zillion SV spool. It opens the 103 up emmensley. I concur. Much easier to find a spool with the appropriate sized inductor. More than plenty of spools readily availabl...

Re: Good allround spool for T3 MX?

1012 SV G1 or 1016 SV G1 for more line capacity. Either spool is the absolute best I've used in the T3 platform. So long story short, get that spool while you can. With the all around setting and brake dial set between 6 and 10 - straight up casting machine.

You accidentally put lacquer thinner on a rag, and took the rag to a rod blank...... Or did you accidentally have an accident?

Re: Long distance spool for sv103

Tried out the sv103 stock spool with alphas sv inductor and hlc spring. Certainly less choked than the stock inductor and slightly faster. Might have to try the g1 slp sv after all. I did some spool testing the other day in my steez sv tw. The zillion G1 1016 sv spool was a better overall spool vs ...

Re: Buying rods thru buyee/yahoo jp

That's crazy. How on Earth can Shimreels send rods from Singapore with free shipping and tracking, but buyee charges $200 and uses a cardboard box? I would never ever ever use them. JDM grass is not THAT much greener... With Shimreels, often the shipping expense is already included in the price. Th...

If you would fish it enough, you might just get that one big bite. I've thrown just about everything, and my two biggest smallies have come on finesse.

Re: Ramblings about rod power and preferences

Nah, not my style. To me fishing is fighting and playing the fish. That's the fun in it, which is lost when over powering the fish. It's like shooting a helpless animal, point blank range. That aside, I've lost FAR too many fish using a heavier or stiffer rod than the situation called for. I also mo...

Those both look exceptional. Those blue knobs are a difficult pairing. I'm having my Steez SV TW painted to match them because I love the knobs, but could not figure out what to do with them.

There really isn't a best, but there is a braided line that will work best for you. What characteristics do you want from the line?
