Re: Edge Black Widow blanks

I don't own any of Gary's rod builds, but I have both NFC IM (Intermediate) and HM (High). The Edge rods are built around these same blanks. I've also owned one XX, the Spinnerbait Special. I feel the IM blanks are on par with the XX, while the HM blanks are noticeably better. We all know this matte...

Defier has more stretch vs Armilo as I recall correctly.

It does, but the OP seemed more concerned with deformity and longevity. OG Defier is a clear winner here.

Re: Phenix Bass Recon?

For me, I've never been a fan of Dobyns blanks. I will say he makes a very balanced stick with above average build quality. I wasn't into Phenix off the shelf rods at any point. I built on a Recon blank, and have been sold ever since. At the individual price points of each rod series, I think you wo...

Now this vessel seriously peeks my interest. Stability of a pontoon, open deck, swivel seat, and a pedal drive. Do you have any links to more literature? Web browser, engaged.

Absolutely! Sunline Defier. Not the Armillo, the original green. Best line ever produced. Maintains its shape incredibly well, casts even better than natural. Premium line at a premium price. Backing is your friend :big grin:

Re: What is the Tatula SV of rods?

I picked up a tat sv also and looking for a cheaper rod for it. Im between the original tatula 6'10" m or mh and a hammer rod. I've been reading the hype on those 2 over the past couple years and haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. I wish i could feel a hammer before purchasing it. No one i...

Re: What is the Tatula SV of rods?

OG Tatula rods. Just as the Tatula SV offers Daiwas SV technology at a value price, the OG Tatula rods offer Daiwas SVF technology at a value price. What's wrapped around those two special technologies isn't as good as higher end models, but you're still getting the more important end of the good li...

Lamiglas Infinity bass blanks

What would be an appropriate competitor blank to slate these against, in terms of on par with, pretty close, etc? I'm assuming they're not Point Blank, K2, or NFC HM high end worthy, but how do they stack up against Hydra NG, Phenix UMBX or Rainshadow Immortal? Anybody take the time to measure and r...

Re: Opportunity for a Kistler Helium lta?

1st generation LTAs were pretty sweet, made with really good blanks. These models have the blue zirconia guide inserts. The 2nd generation was just okay, made with lesser quality blanks. I believe the one you are describing is a 2nd generation based on the guide description you provided. It's defini...

While not considered shallow by some, the G1 1012SV spool would make for an excellent finesse spool in that reel. If you want something a touch faster, the Zpi Nrc001-m is fantastic as well.

No doubt it's a smoking deal. I'm getting a near new T3 1016 for 110 shipped. Don't have to upgrade gears, plus I'm a T3aholic

Re: Looking for a new BFS reel.

My recommendation would be the Alphas Air, but I'm a simple kind of guy. By simple I mean its great out of the box. No need to upgrade spool, bearings are preference. They will make casting a little easier, but nothing earth shattering. I'm a Daiwa guy, and prefer the magnetic braking and ease of op...
