Re: 1016 BFS Reel

Steez (new and old), TDZ, T3, Zillion SV TW all accommodate 34mm spools. All can be considered bfs candidates. The trick is finding the one with the best braking magnet polarity for your specific spool. To play it safe, my suggestion would be a Steez or Zillion SV TW, T3, or POSSIBLY a TDZ.... Unles...

Re: Alternatives to my rod

Look to the Jdm market. They have and use many, many shorter rods. They have become almost obsolete on our side of the pond.

Re: Daiwa SS SV103 SH/L ?

I recently tried a SS SV103 and fell in love with how it fits my small hand. I never gave this reel much though before now. I know it’s supposed to be a watered down version of a Steez, but which Steez model exactly? I’m asking because I didn’t care for the one or two Steez reels I tried over the y...

Purple one ordered! :big grin:
Awesome. Let us know if you notice any reasonable differences between the stock spool. Both are made of G1, and so close in weight... Please check if their is additional porting on the SLP version

Re: Almost a kayak . . . better than a kayak?

The Meyers version is very stout. Mine is several years old and nary a dent. It shows no "oil canning" or flexing when I stand in it (>250 lbs.), when I grab a gunwale, or hang a large TM off its transom. Very solid . . . but go with the American version. The Canadian version is lighter and I'd rel...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

Ok, so I have fished the reel on 4 different occasions. I threw a T-rigged trick worm w/ 1/16 oz bullet, a 3" Swing Impact on 1/15 and 1/10 oz Shroomz heads(ned head) and a weightless Super Fluke. I fished it on a Phenix Maxim 6-10 ML Mod-fast, a 6-10ML extra-fast MC Go Emotion 6-7 ML BFS and a 6-5...

Re: Lost fish therapy

Really depends on whether or not I see the fish. If I hook up with a biggin, and it shakes loose before I can see it, I just keep on keeping on. If I see it, especially if I lose it at arms reach, recovery takes some time. I lost a seven and a half plus pound smaliie last year. My finger tips were t...

Re: Steez Limited 105 paint ?

What normal paint issues? This is the 1st I am hearing of this. This is the shiny Steez with the bajillion holes in the frame, correct? Look at all the limited SV105 Steez reels on ebay. Every one of them the top coat is peeling. Some worse than others. Once it begins, it continues to grow. The onl...

Re: Steez Limited 105 paint ?

I've never owned one. More like refused to buy one, but from the countless pics I've seen, it appears the top coat is what peels. So if the new top coats properties don't jive with the old, it could potentially lead to worse problems. I would consult a professional coatings paint store manager or s...

Re: The most UNDER rated..

American Tackle Bushido Blanks, especially SWB710/15-30. I've heard this from quite a few sources. How would you rank / rate them along side others? Hopefully better than MHX. Not a fan of most of those, aside from the high mod popping blanks. Better than regular MHX (IM). Not lightest ones, but ve...
