Re: TackleTour Tournament Interview : Aaron Martens

Nope, I'm sure it's not hard to compartmentalise sponsorship. He's picked kit that works best for him. Megabass also sells sunglasses, g-shocks the lot. In a way I think A.M picking and choosing is great for MB. Message is simple: Aaron Martins uses what he thinks best. He uses MB hard bodies and ro...

Re: TackleTour Tournament Interview : Aaron Martens

Awesome read! I have adapted a lot of finesse techniques bass fishermen use here in AU sometime solely based on videos and text by A.M.

I'm surprised he used the orochi hedgehog for tournaments, from what I've read and seen, they are indeed fragile rods.

Re: What a Concept! 13 Fishing's Concept-A Reel

Mcyl, are you sure that the 13 Reels are made by Banax? There are not many similarities (if any at all) superficially compared to the reels you posted above. Are the internals the same? DaveJ One way to find out...I think I read once Abu got a diawa and manage to mix all the parts and resassemble.....

Re: What a Concept! 13 Fishing's Concept-A Reel

Theories abound. Comparing the 13Fishing against any number of existing reels will revel similarities and differences. There are only so many ways to make a gear, pinion, spring, clutch, bushing and so on. I've not found enough of either similarities or differences to say the 13 Fishing reels are r...

Re: What a Concept! 13 Fishing's Concept-A Reel

Heres another article about the 13 Fishing reels. Some good insider info too from the reel designers: http://anglingauthority.com/2014/02/13-fishing-launches-new-line-of-concept-baitcasters/ You're thinking of the logo designers. Here's the reel designers: http://m.banax.co.kr/sub/3_1.php?show_star...

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?

Well I thought the spiral wrap was to enable less guides on the last 1/3 of the rods, less weight and a crisper tip. Hence for a bass rod the improvement should be in its casting ability.

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?

I enjoyed the review, except for this poppycock: "The guides are ... spiral wrapped around the blank. ...the performance benefits of eliminating twist in the blank when the rod is under load helps prolong the life of your rod." Come on, Cal--we're all fishing top-wrapped rods that should ...

I've always enjoyed split grips but I might build a rod with the black widow.
However I wish they were contoured

Re: The Search For One : Guess Who's Back Building Rods?

Great review Cal! I've been curious about this rod ever since I've heard about it. On TTF I keep hearing about NRXes being the ultimate in sensitivity, but this rod was designed by the man himself. Did you get a chance to fish them side by side? Also on the illustration on the Edge site the reel sea...

Re: 2013 Bait-the-Finesse Finale : Shimano Aldebaran BFS

The review stated that he used the max brake setting. The other settings backlashed too much. Maybe on the other settings the brakes didnt come into play enough since he wasnt casting very far and the rotor didnt come out very much? I'm surprised by the outcome of the comparison, but not the perfor...

Re: 2013 Bait-the-Finesse Finale : Shimano Aldebaran BFS

very good review. cant wait for the tt review of the t3air so see how your impressions contrast mine. i have one, and its the most amazing reel ive ever fished. That review is now on the TT Home page also. Seems it carries on the tradition of Daiwa "wild child" spool backlashing issues so...

Re: 2013 Bait-the-Finesse Finale : Shimano Aldebaran BFS

Shouldn't a titanium coated conical shaped tapered level wind, corefit body that allows easier twitching of the 6 pt drag star be considered a feature? :big grin: The corefit body would be great if they made the CC knob a little easier to adjust! The star drag is great and… I can't be certain but i...

Re: 2013 Bait-the-Finesse Finale : Shimano Aldebaran BFS

last month I used the exact same combo of a XG BFS together with a recon 682l-C with 7lb Sniper FC. I found it casted very acceptably on KTF 1/16 offset micro jigs together with ecogear grass minnows and ecogear SX40s. The upper ranges included vision 95s and bent minnow 106. very effective at contr...
