Visiting Tokyo - any bass tackle stores i should see?
Hey all, I'm visiting Tokyo for the first time next week. I was wondering if any of you have been, and found a cool tackle shop to visit that you'd recommend! I've ogled so much JDM only gear here, it'd be silly not to see if I can get my hands on something while I'm there. This was the only place I...

Damn that bites! Hopefully it arrives well! I'm kinda regretting not snapping up the 6'10"ML Envy that was $99 for black Friday.

Re: Casting Rods... What will you spend?
I've been having a hard time trying to figure out where my point of diminishing returns is. There's no tackle stores locally anymore that carries higher end equipment, and do I don't think I have enough experience with high end rods to be able to tell the difference in a store without actually fishi...

Re: New GLX rods
Can anyone compare sensitivity and casting performance between the 3 power GLXs and the kistler Helium 3? I'm curious how the NFC blank measures up against the new GLX. Granted one's half the price of the other, so i wouldn't expect them to be even. The pics of the build quality on the GLX look ama...

Re: Envy Black or Kistler Helium
I forgot to add, shimano will charge a premium for the GLoomis rods because they can. Gary Loomis himself has held firm to this pricing strategy with his Edge rods. Look at his First Strike series rods, which use the NFC IM blank. Same blank as the KLX and H3, but substantially more cost. Is it wor...

Re: Envy Black or Kistler Helium
In my opinion the Kistler is the better rod and choice. You might consider looking at the KLX line up since it is the same IM NCF blank, but different actions available. I believe all the H3's are listed as XF, the KLX line up has fast and mod-fast actions. An H3 in medium power extra fast could be...

Re: Finesse baitcasting rod help
Do you know anything about 13 fishing quality control regarding the envy black series? I read some less than favorable stuff not too long ago and just plain steered clear from 13 fishing entirely. It seems that the envy is the higher end product though. the kistler magnesium 2 comes in medium and me...

Finesse baitcasting rod help
Hey all, I want to take advantage of the various black friday sales. Can anyone help me narrow down my rod selection? I'm looking for a rod for my Daiwa SV105. I'm gonna be running 10lb fluorocarbon, using it for mostly lightweight bottom contact single hook finesse. I'm looking to throw Down to : 1...

I concur, Tatula CT. I don't think anybody else's offerings at $100 street price will compare in performance and build.

Re: What kind of rod am i looking for?
Yeah, the Lithium is a bit out my price range. I've been using 662M Corzza for the past week and a half, and with the sv105 it's SLINGING flukes out there, and i can get pretty reasonable distance out of Neko rigged trick worms (1/16 nail). I am going to have to try u-tail worms again, I only fished...

Re: Daiwa SV 105 sticky retrieve.
Yeah that would explain it, I'm using red label which is apparently not on the more supple end of the fluorocarbon spectrum. I used some kvd line and lure which made it about as manageable as a thicker co-poly without it. The backlashes weren't bad, just very loose. I didn't kink up the line at all,...

Re: Daiwa SV 105 sticky retrieve.
That's awesome, thanks! I think all the grease migrated to the middle of the worm. I redistributed it somewhat and it's more even now. I'll have to buy some grease though, there's definitely less grease on the worm than in the picture on that guide. I've got a tin of moly grease, i may have to clean...

Re: Daiwa SV 105 sticky retrieve.
I started out with the spool tension all the way off, and was getting pretty thorough backlashes with my 1/8 + worm so I tightened it down slightly. How much grease should be on the worm gear? It looks like there was a pretty hefty clump in the middle, although i'm not sure why more grease would cau...
