Re: "sun" shirts
btune; I have some "skin issues" too. I have been more than pleased with the BPS brand World Wide Sportsman shirts with long sleeves. I find that despite their 30+ spf rating they give wonderful protection. ( suspect ,probably in the neighbourhood of 50). I usually purchase them 1 or 2 sizes too lar...

Re: TWC3 oil for 2 strokes
Haven't heard that. Did your motor guy say anything about voiding a warranty?? Also, what was the product you were using?? Did you contact the manufacturer?? What do they say?? Regards,- Shimanoman

Re: Topwater - Braid or Mono?
eric m;- Regarding the use of braid with flies. I would not recommend it. You could try it but, because the braid is so limp and does not have the "body" of a mono tapered leader, it probably will not "turn over " at all. Then again, you may be fishing over really hungry, unsophisticated fish who co...

Re: Fishing Weightless Plastics with Spinning Gear Help!
njsaltangler;- Unless there is a particular reason(ultra clear water/finicky fish) to use a leader, I don't. I tie directly to the hook with a Palomar knot. If you want to make a lot of long casts, consider using the longest rod you can. I have a 9 footer which will really "launch" a bait. Regards,-...

Re: what's the lightest line you've ever used on a BC?
OldGuyAl; I consider myself competent with a baitcaster and not a "master" with it. When I find that I am having a problem with a bait because of its light weight- I just switch to my spinning rod. The delivery problem is solved and I can continue fishing. I can go fishing for brook trout with a bai...

Re: Fishing Weightless Plastics with Spinning Gear Help!
OldGuyAl Try the 8 lb PowerPro. I use it with a super fluke on a 5/0 EWG Gamakatsu I get lots of distance and lots of action with them. I usually use all the Shimano reels from 750 to 2500 in size coupled with one or 2 piece rods in the 6'-7' Med light/Med action range. Regards,- Shimanoman
Re: mepps
fonebone 10;- Mepps has been around for a long, long time. They make a huge variety of inline spinner baits and they sell a ton of them in my neck of the woods. I am not surprised that they are laying claim to the #1 spot!!! Now, you go out and try and prove that they are not #1!! It's advertising, ...

Re: Fishing Weightless Plastics with Spinning Gear Help!
OldGuyAl;- Unless you are using one of the really old rods with metal or agate guides, I wouldn't worry about the noise. It won't hurt the guides. What brand and strength are u using and what did you replace?? It seems odd that your casting distance has decreased. I have never had a similar experien...

Re: 1 piece vs 2 piece

Re: Fishing Weightless Plastics with Spinning Gear Help!
OldGuyAl;- When you used the braid, did you use some tension when you spooled up?? I have been using 8 lb PowerPro for the last 2 years and never had any loss in distance. With the limp, no memory, braid, I haven't used a swivel in years and, even though there is twist in the line, the usually accom...

Re: Fishing Weightless Plastics with Spinning Gear Help!
njsaltangler; Line twist is a fact of life when you use any spinning tackle. Having said that, though, the effect of line twist on a monofiliment can be virtually eliminated by using one of the braided,or thermally fused superlines. I believe that your choice is a matter of personal preference. My f...

Re: Fenwick HMG SpinFly rod...
Fold Cat; It might provide a good pack in alternative. I would suggest, however that you actually learn to use a fly rod before you spend your hard earned money to purchase this multi function outfit. Regards;- Shimanoman
