Re: replacement suggestion

I would think that casting full size spooks, you would need a medium heavy rod. Bandersnatch looks ideal for topwater.

Re: Abu is complete garbage compared to Daiwa and Shimano

In the earlier 80's nearly every reel in my bass club was an Abu Ambassador. No more.

Re: Alphas spool options

I enjoy the SV103. Type R, and Zonda spools all for different things. My favorite is the Type R for casting 1/4 oz.Pop R's.

Re: Steez Question

Put the honeycomb on any of your steezs or get an airy red spool for your PXTR and buy a new rod, or just go ahead a buy the EX and 2 or 3 new rods. :D

You need to try both rods with the same line before you decide.

Re: Daiwa Liberto Pixy PX68 SPR

Pretty neat looking reel out of the box. I added worm bearing, handle bearings, and upgraded spool bearing. Put on Eiger Northwall and cast light cranking. Enjoy this combo a lot.

Re: What's Next???

I would go old school with a TDZ variant or Steez. These reels are smooth, dependable. and easy to obtain at a good price.

Re: 6.9 ft or 7 ft for top water?

I like the short rods for targeting shore or grass lines and casting at objects for accuracy. For open water the longer rods for distance.
