Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I was at TTT Friday and handled the 902S and it's very high for a 7' 6" rod. It didn't seem that tip heavy without a reel. Reminds me of the balancing point on the NRX 893 without the reel. Yes the 893C was a little tip heavy based on the balance point, but it's so light it's hardy noticeable.

Re: Daiwa Alphas sv105 spool upgrade

First off, welcome to the forum. I have owned a red SLPW SV105 spool and it offered no upgrade over the stock spool, unless you count the pretty colors that are available. I sold mine off after I realized that. However, it is a fantastic upgrade for any other Alphas platfom. I have 3 of the stock b...

Re: G Loomis demo rods

I've broken maybe 3 rods in 40 years and most were several years old or older. I wish rod manufactures would sell rods with little or no warranty at a lower price, not jacked up from replacement for any reason warranties. Give me 20 % off for demo, I'm in.

Re: Japan lure shop

I've use pretty much all the shops listed and had good service from all, just shop them all for the best price. Most prices at Digitaka include shipping on reels so consider that when comparing.

Re: Is there a better choice for me then sunline natural

I like use both Defier and Armilo. Armilo is the best alround line I've used and goes on my multipurpose rods. But when it comes to 1/4 oz. Pop R's you just can't fine a better line than Defier. I really like it for all my small cranks, also. I don't use Defier for anything over 12 #'s.

Another vote for Defier, their 12 # is the cat's meow.

Re: Soliciting advice on a BFS reel

Spool choices for PX R are PX Airy Red or Presso (you will need spacers), don't about any Zip spools for PXs. I put an Airy Red in my Type R and am very pleased.

Lordy, don't ask an old man about dates. Early during the time period mentioned.

Re: Daiwa PT33 Series

Recently I picked up a vintage PT33C and PT33P (classic 80s) Daiwa reels to match up and fish with my made in Japan Daiwa SS Tournament 700 and 1300 spinning reels. I have to say that even though these reels are rather old, they are rather refined for the time and were top of the line models at the...
