Re: First look at new Megabass Orochi XX rods

Awesome write up, really informative! thanks Gary! Is there another rod that you can compare the Diablo to? Is it similar to any other Mb rod, or loomis, dobyns, st croix, etc? 2 Side notes: 1. I don't care what anyone says- that Bape Zillion is an awesome looking reel! =D> 2. I'm trying to play ho...

Re: Frog Reel search

I suspect that the Bantam MGL is going to make a spectacular frog reel. I haven't fished it for that technique yet, but the left hand models will arrive in time. I have fished the RH model and it's one fine reel that I think is going to get a lot of attention when more of them get out there. We fin...

Re: Favourite frogging + topwater reel?

I use a MB IP 68 with 6.8:1 ratio. Fast enough for me with a little more power than the 7.9:1. Great on Guntersville grass mats.

Re: Have top water rods changed?

I was one who always liked shorter rods for topwater baits, especially Pop R's, since I cast to structure or grass edges. I decided to try my MB X7 Super Elseil which is 6' 11". It's the best Pop R rod I've ever used. It's changed my view on shorter rods. This year I'm going to try a 7' 6"...

Re: Dobyns 705cb or loomis imx pro 845cbr

I had 2 705CB and liked them a lot. Their moderate fast action makes them a very versatile rod. Used them for pretty much any moving bait. For their price level they're had to beat. Sorry no info on IMX for comparison.

Re: Bull Shad Swimbaits Enters the Rat Race

Seems like every review of a Bull Shad Swimbait discript them them as plain or sometimes crude, but most importantly they catch fish. Mike makes great swim baits. Thanks for the review.

Re: A Global Design for Enthusiasts, the Shimano G.Loomis Conquest Rods

Enjoyed the review. If asked what I wanted in a new premium rod I would have ask for full cork grips, great guides, and MBR actions. All winners on the Conquest rods. Interesting comparison between the Conquest's and NRX's sensitivity, no winner there. I'll be adding some Conquest to my line up, bu...
